How did your meeting go? I still have not set the day for my meeting and dropping my $1,000. I just feel so overwhelmed with trying to figure out how I will pay for the program. I called them the other day and they said that they were accepted for fasfa but have yet to set it up. I hope that I get the full WIA amount of $8,000. But, there is still $10,000 that I need to pay. And money is the only reason why I have yet to go ahead and turn in my application. The deadline is approaching and I have such a headache thinking about it. Plus, I'm moving to the area this wednesday, and have yet to obtain a job as well. Did you learn anything new from your meeting then what you have previously said?

Hi Tenchi675. I did not know they were accepted for FAFSA. I need to jump on that. I am applying to sallie mae private loans because I have no idea how I am going to pay for it all. If you don't mind getting a loan, then you could apply for one. Are you going to be starting the A&P in the fall or the actual nursing courses?

I'm taking the A&P in the fall because I failed it at NIU. Plus since its already included the price I don't see it as being that bad. I called them and they told me that they were accepted for fasfa but they have not set it up. I'm hoping they would have it in time for the fall but I doubt it. The problem with doing a private loan for me is trying to come up with a co-signer for my loan. Also, I hate that they still have not set up the schedule for the fall yet. I went to an info session a year ago and they told me that they did full time evening classes, which I hope they are still doing. Because I'm trying to find a possible day shift cna job somewhere. I took my TEAS test I think in april and they said that they were also working on their RN approval. I wonder if they will have that done by fall or maybe the winter... I'm going to make my appointment sometime this week to turn in my application and $1000. If all goes well I might see you in aug. But, I will love to keep chatting with you. My yahoo im is Tenchi675 if you want to chat.

Oh, man if you took it in the summer you could have been with me =). But it's ok. Here is my deal, I already have a crap load of loans from my undergrad and salliemae is one of my loan ppl. SO i am in the process of deferring them and also applying for a new one for the LPN program. In my previous loans, I have always had a co-signer, my mom, but this time I took it out as self, so no cosigner. I dont work, i am trying to look for a CNA job, but no is hiring me!!! I am going crazy with apps but really someone needs to give me a chance! I hope they set up their fafsa soon because I dont want to take out so much loans and then they say we can use fafsa, you know? Very stressful

I would have done A&P in the summer but I don't live in the Schaumburg area. I'm moving from DeKalb to Mount Prospect starting this Wednesday. I have been a CNA for just about 3yrs, and I have applied to a ton of places in the area and no one is calling me. I currently work at a hospital in DeKalb and I'm wondering if I am going to have to commute from Mount Prospect to DeKalb until I find a job. The outline they gave me was that A&P was the first semester then in oct is other classes and clinicals.
I also have a ton of loans from undergrad as well and I hate to add onto my already huge amount. We should both pray that they will have fafsa ready by the fall.

I feel like you would have a higher chance of getting a job because of experience especially since it was in a hospital setting. You might want to talk to Jon about getting a CNA job. Jon is the president of Americare Institute. I had met with him before I met with anyone else and he gave me a list of possible places to apply and told me to go there and hand in my application instead of through internet. Alot of people have been telling me that, and also to follow up on HR and make sure they are reviewing your app. Anyways he gave me a couple of his cards and told me to attach it with the application. Since the school is affiliated with some of the healthcare facilities, they might pay attention to us more. Here is the thing - he forgot to print it out and hand it to me so I do not have the list. I have been meaning to ask him again for a print out but for some reason I haven't yet. I need to get on top of that and apply. I think your best bet is to either call the HR people or go there personally (well dressed in case they interview you right there and then) and stalk them till they give you an answer. =)

Does anyone know, is it easier to get into the RN program if you are an LPN as opposed to just applying into the RN program itself. I am wondering if it's still worth it to go through the LPN program when I can just apply into the nursing program.

Thanks.

I just heard from recently graduate that the Americare classes are not being accepted by many colleges. This means that you might have a chance to take the class over. Each semester the Americare keep raising their tuition price. This school is very very very accelerated. You need hours and hours of self study because of the new system now which is 14 weeks class. If you work hard everyday and dedicated this school is for you, but if you don't keep up with the reading success can be hard. Beware of ATI exam for each class. Overall this program is fast and you will finish in a year.

Wow, this program is extremely expenisive! I knew it would be slightly higher being a private school but over $18,000.00?? Yikes! The Lpn program at Wright College is a little over $6,000.00, the only difference is you have different pre-reqs requirements such as A&P I & II. The program is also 12 months in duration and they offer a LPN-BSN Bridge program. I don't understand why they don't give any information regarding price of program on the site, but ask you to attend a information session instead, and a non-refundable fee for seat placement? What does ATI stand for, someone mentioned you have to take this test after each semester? Also how many classes do they require you to take per smester as a full-time student? If they do start offering financial aid then maybe I would take it into consideration given the biggest plus is they don't really have a wait list. Paying 18k for pre-reqs being involved in the program is also a waste of money IMO, can get them done at a community college way cheaper...just a thought
