Small town nursing

  1. 0 I'm curious how others feel about experience at a small town hospital. I will be graduating in December and am unsure as to weather the hour and a half drive would be worth it in order to get experience under my belt. I've herd great things about the hospital near my home but there are just not many patients to care for. Being a new nurse would I be better off making the drive for the greater patient load or taking advantage of the slow pace and close to home experience?

After working 12 -13 hours that drive will be torture... If you work nights which most new grads do that will be brutal. I works nights and live about 45 minutes to an hour away and the drive home is hell. If moving is not an option, I would stick close to home. For me, I live in the country so no matter where I work I will have a long commute
