You can show this information all the time if you wish.

Go to your account, options, edit settings, enable "show user information". The box for every poster will remain open all the time.

If you don't want the user info box open all the time displaying this info, disable that. You can always open the box (as I stated in last post) by clicking on the Stars, the user info box will open and remain open until you leave the page.

but that answers neither of my questions, so i have to presume that AN is getting something out of this.

but why the choice to hide it in the first place? What purpose does it serve AN?
Faster page loading is the result of not having thousands of profiles constantly viewable that gives non-essential info --people come here to see thread topic or posts.

With IT's recent tweeks, just need to move cursor over star section to reveal posters profile info, # posts and # liked posts.

Could we get a list of the breakdown of the stars? Such as how many posts you need to reach the next star?
    Something like:

    Bronze:
    1 star: 0-A posts
    2 stars: A-B posts
    3 stars: C-D posts
    4 stars: D-E pots
    5 stars: E-F posts

    Silver:
    1 star: F-G posts
    2 stars: G-H posts

    etc.

I ask because I feel like I've had one silver star for ages, and I'm wondering when I'll earn the next star.

    Thanks!

You have a lot of posts, and three times as many "likes" as posts, Ashley, and yet you have one silver star. I've seen people with very few posts that have three or five stars of some color or other.

    The mystery shall endure.

Post Count Stars are available in 3 tiers / 5 levels each (total of 15 levels):
    • Bronze (0 - 999 posts) Earn 1 Bronze star for every 200 posts
    • Silver (1,000 - 9,999 posts) Earn 1 Silver star for every 2,000 posts at this level
    • Gold (10,000 - 25,000 posts) Earn 1 Gold star for every 5,000 posts at this level

I don't think the bronze stars work quite as explained up above. I've seen many posters with few posts ad 4-5 stars but they don't have 800-1000 posts. Example above BostonTerrierRN only has 629 posts but 5 bronze stars. Why is that?

I still miss being able to easily see a persons post count, experience and speciality. I find AN less useful now because I can't easily evaluate the reliability of someone's answers as I can't tell if its a 30+ year veteran nurse in that speciality or a know it all student with an opinion. Having that information is very important to me.

    it doesn't work like that

it works by chunks and some chunks are bigger than others (it's not every 200, 2,000, or 5,000 posts)

    Post Count Stars Legend

    • Bronze (0 - 999 posts)
    • Silver (1,000 - 9,999 posts)
    • Gold (10,000 - 25,000 posts)

you can click on the stars to show more info ... you can even make this the default by visiting your Settings page
