How in the heck do PMs work?

Okay, I don't mean that question in a basic sense. I know how to send them, how to delete them, etc. I just don't know how to make it so that when I reply to someone, my reply isn't just gone.

Background: I've been keeping up a PM communication here on the site for a few weeks now. I'll get a message every few days, reply within a few days, etc. Sometimes it saves my responses and lets me see them when I click the "View Message History" button in the latest PM I've received from the other member, but this entire month, it hasn't shown any of the messages I've sent. It gets very disorienting trying to remember exactly what I said @_@.

I've read that they're supposed to show up if you check a box indicating that you want a saved copy of what you sent (which I assume would go in the Sent Items folder), but I've never seen such a box to check. There is no special reply button that I can push to get this box as an option, I don't think, since when I click to view my received PM, I just see a "Comments So Far..." box at the bottom that lets me type out a response.

The site seemingly at random saved my first responses, but hasn't saved any of the four or five I've sent this month. How do I fix that?

    I believe....with a non paid membership...you have a limit to only 25.

You can save them in word documents on your computer or upgrade your membership......Support the site and get more perks in the process!

I will double check to be sure.

Thanks for the quick response Esme . I've only got 9 PMs in my inbox, and would have 9 in my Sent folder if they had all saved, but only 4 have shown up there. I'm definitely not at the 25 PM cap.

If you are going to save any of your messages save the latest one. This will ensure that all replies up to that date are saved.

A copy is automatically saved in your Sent Items folder upon sending a message.

I am having this problem as well, and my messages are NOT being automatically saved to the sent items folder. I have sent 3 messages and none are stored in my sent items. I have 4 inbox messages and nothing else in my mail. Not sure where to check to say I want my messages stored!

Your account isn't set up to store sent pm's. If you want this set up contact us in the Admin Help Desk where we can sort this out. Links for the help desk can be found at the bottom of the page or under the help button above
