Re: RN responsibilities at a Hospice House?
Depends on the facility and # of patients. At ours, if there is less than 4 patients the RN is the only staff there except for 2 hours in the morning we get a CNA for baths and for 2 hours at HS to get the patients ready for bed. We can always call one of the field nurses for backup or an on-call crisis LPN if anyone starts to circle the drain. Our facility can have up to 12 patients and if/when full there is 1 RN and 1 LPN at all times but the CNA schedule is the same no matter what. No CNA if there are only 1-2 patients. I personally, have not worked our hospice house yet though but I have had to go in for back up once at night.
