phantom pain


Hi all...pt has ES prostate ca with mets and a zillion other co morbidity's. He has phantom pain in foot after an above knee amputation...anything different to use? thanks

I find that meds that treat neuropathic pain are helpful in this condition. Lyrica, neurontin or sometimes Elavil. How old is this patient? Sometimes that will make a difference in which drug I would use. Good luck.

i was going to suggest the methadone.
it relieves neuropathic pain better than most, as well as treating all other types of pain.
it really is a superior drug, when used appropriately.
