DH dying-need prayers

I've posted before about my husband being terminally ill and complications that have come up, but this is the worst it has every been. Currently in ICU with ARDS and sepsis, placed on dialysis yesterday. On a vent, paralytic, the whole works.

Miraculously he has been showing signs of improvement. CXR went from a complete white out to having distinguishable upper lobes, heart, ET. That was amazing. Has been running a PEEP of 20. Went in this morning to a stunned looking pulmonologist telling me that the lungs are regaining some elasticity so they got the PEEP down to 8. (PTL!)

I have been glued to his bedside but am home tonight as I had nobody to take care of our 5 year old. Besides she is desperate for some mommy time and vice versa. I was actually sleeping peacefully and his brother called and woke me up. Couldn't go back to sleep and felt God telling me to get on here and get as many prayers as possible going so that dh can get over the hump. My brother in law is an atheist but I continue to witness to him about God in my life and God's ability to heal if it is in his will.

Please, all you that can pray, please help me out on this one. His name is Dan and I love him more than anything. He had not made a decision for the Lord before he was intubated so that is a big reason for wanting him to wake up and have one more chance.

Thanks in advance to all. You guys are wonderful support.

I don't get on this site everyday, so I had not seen your posts. I jsut read all 14 pages and just wanted to let you know that my family will be praying for your family. Stay Godstrong!!!

Day 22...Not too many signs of waking up today. Liver function continues to improve. Dialysis took off about 5 pounds today, well tolerated. JP drain out today. Dressing has stayed dry and intact all day. I was a little worried since he had so much output from that. Good nurse taking care of him tonight (they're all good, actually, I love them all) so I won't worry (too much). Happy New Year everybody.

Hoping '06 will be a miracle year for you and your family! Your on our prayer list daily.

God is the great Physician and Your love is in his Hands. They are strong powerful hands and He will carry you thru.I know the ups and downs are almost to much to bear,But you have done the right thing by putting a prayer chain in effect... God Bless you and Hold you in his hand Comfort and Keep your Hubby and Give him Peace sweet sweet peace.....

Day 23...chest xray looks amazing today, still improving daily. Vent settings down again today 35% FIO2, PEEP 4 and BPM now down to 14. I can't believe just a few days ago it was set at 40. Lung doc predicts moving him by this Friday. If the rest of his organs cooperate, doc thinks Dan is a good candidate for getting off the vent ( with aggressive rehab). Blood Pressure dipped kind of low this evening so that was a little worry, but improved with fluids. But he's not making urine now. (2 days of no dialysis) His stoma is darker but still viable so they are watching that carefully. Doc says that it is just edematous like the rest of him. So...we'll see what tomorrow brings. Me and DD watched "Ghost" at the hospital tonight. One of my favorite movies but particularly sad at this time in life. (Hate it when Willie and Carl die--gives me the creeps!) Thank you all you faithful prayer warriors. I know that prayer is making the difference.

my heart and prayers are with you i hope evrything wroks out and ill pary for your husband. please keep us posted.

Wishing you an uneventful 2006. I pray that your dh steadily improves, and that the message of Christ will reach him through this ordeal. Also, I pray for your family's peace with the knowledge that even though the burdens feel as though they are on our shoulders sometimes, we never have control. Instead of feeling helpless and out of control, realize that this is a gift that we have because we don't have the weight on our shoulders. This was something that I learned when I was 21 yrs old and gave birth to a 24 wkr who is now a healthy 5 yr old. Once I released myself from the responsibility and the guilt that follows, I felt rejuvenated spiritually and my son miraculously improved in about 2 hours. I also wanted to recommend some spiritual fiction novels that deal with the subject of converting people to Christianity through crises such as the one you are dealing with. It is a 4-book series by Beverly LaHaye and Terri Blackstock and they are so wonderful and easy to read! The first is Seasons Under Heaven (I think) and all four have the word "Season" in them. It is nice to have a good book in the hospital. Sorry I wrote so much, but I felt compelled.

Dont lose hope! Suzanne

My prayers are with you & your family. I hope your DH continues to improve.
