I am leaving the hospital and joing home health. I have noticed that everybody set their trunk of differently and hoards different supplies. I want to know what do you all think is the most needed supplies. I also see that organization is everything. What do you do/use to organize your time. Thanks.

A foley or two 16fr and 18fr, insertion kit and an irrigation kit. Gloves!

gloves, alcohol pads, extra gauze 4x4s, extra kerlix, extra foleys, betadine or chlorhexadine, saline syringes and lots of tape , ace wrap or coban, extra hubs for picc lines and extra scissors

Suture Removal Kits are online and contain sterile forceps, scissors, and gauze.

Blairex Wound Wash Saline is at Wal-mart

Transparent film dressing and steri-strips are at CVS pharmacy

I can make a big difference in outcome by having what I need to treat those frequent skin tears when they happen. I replentish as needed from wherever, but have no problem spending $5.00 now and then to keep myself well stocked.

Does your company reimburse you for the expenses? Or nurses are supposed to prepare all suppllies on their own?

That's a different topic. This is about what's most needed. The preferred acquisition method was given.

everybody...hoards different supplies. I want to know what do you all think is the most needed supplies.

as I conceded

I replentish as needed from wherever.

When I see what I might need or be able to use, I partake of a few. I know how not to be greedy about things and feel it all works out in the end. I also spend more than an acceptable amount of my own money. That is strictly my fault. I am certain there is an underlying pathological drive to do this, but I haven't explored it with a therapist.
