I am amazed at health care profession today. I go in Monday to turn in paper work from being on call Sat and I am coughing my head off sick as a dog, boss ignores me when I said I have to go to MD and get antibiotics. Tells me to wear a mask and go on out to see patients. I wear the mask nearly fall out at first home then go back to office and told her I was going to the doctor that I was just too sick to do it. I let her know the MD put me home till Friday. She keeps begging me to come in then demands I come in Thursday and ask me if I have a doctors excuse. Yeah I got one. lol for Thursday also. Do they not care about the patients any more. I would not want a nurse at my home with an elderly sick relative, who is running a fever and coughing uncontrollable. So much for that I will work tomorrow sick or not rather than lose the job. I just don't get it.

Just keep this in mind should other opportunities present themselves. An employer who forces a sick employee to expose their patients to possible illness is not an employer that one wants to go the mile for.

Yeah I would not want an employee around other staff or patients as sick as I am right now. I am suppose to be out tomorrow also but I am going in because she is ready to fire me I think. It is very upsetting and not what you should have to be worried about when you are trying hard to get well.

I know the agency you work for. Call the corporate compliance hotline and let them know about this, they will be very interested to hear that you are expected to expose your elderly patients.

I called and left a message for them to call me. I am still very sick and I am going to my doctor tomorrow for more antibiotics. I think I am going to ask for a transfer to the office in the bigger city. The office I am in now I am ending up nothing but the Oasis Nurse which means long nights charting and no continuity of care with patients. (ie no SNV's just SoC, RoC, Recerts and Discharges). They way this DOO has treated me I feel no loyalty at this point. I thought she was going to be different. You out there that are DOO's; it means a lot to your staff if you are honest about the job the person is hiring in for, fair and sincerely care about the staff. I am the type of person if you worked with me like I am sick right now I would never forget it and bust my rear for you. Instead if you lie to me, treat me like I mean less that a street dog to you and abuse your position; then when quitting time comes and you need some one to do something extra I will be first one to go home. Seems there is very little compassion for coworkers any more. How can you even be a nurse if you can send one of your own wheezing and sick to care for patients and not even care. Should have never been a nurse in the first place in my book.

I too was strongly encouraged - "because as your supervisor I can't require you to come into work sick - to come to a meeting at the office and work while sick". I was asked to wear a mask and I did and got all hot and sweaty from breathing my stuff hot fumes. Two patients when hearing me on the phone when I called to schedule the appts asked me not to come! I told them I don't blame them and to please call my supervisor. I never did run a fever so technically the company sick policy did not apply to me.

Well all I am now is in trouble at work should have just let it go. Also learned that when RN's want to do a mix of SNVs not all Oasis work they are wanting to do LPN work for RN pay. I don't see it that way.

Oh well feels like another job down the tubes. I will survive I guess.
