The mom is going to show me. I don't know if I am setting myself up for liability. Any thoughts?Last edit by Sherriblu on Aug 6, '12

It's not hard, doesn't take long and will CYA in the long run (I think).I am a home care nurse working as an independent contractor and was offered to care for a girl on a vent but I have never cared for someone on a vent. Request training from another nurse, specifically one already working with that patient, and accept the training from the mother. Pay particular attention to actions necessary in emergencies. Those are the avenues available to hh nurses new to vents. After time with the patient with Mom there as backup, you will feel less anxious.
