scrotal edema...what to do?

A new pt with scrotal edema was sent home with no orders specifically addressing this condition. The case is complex: prostate CA c/ mets, bladder lesions, bilateral ureteral stents, DVTs...and more. Not even sure what condition is primary to the scrotal edema. What interventions can I request from the MD?

Was d/c from snf c/ garment, but too difficult to use. No f/c. Wears depends for minor incontinence, able to void on toilet. Looking for comfort measures.

Here's one that I've used in the past: take a basic hand-towel and drap it over the patient's thighs with the scrotum on top. This gently elevates the scrotum and may help decrease the swelling. It works best if the patient is lying recumbent or is in a recliner chair. Make sure the patient has the (mental) ability to avoid sitting on his scrotum to avoid further injury.
