Salary for home healthcare nursing

Thanks for replying I also live in Bergen county area and I've heard from others that $30/hr is acceptable for the state of nj. I am going to wait for her to call me about the orientation info and then I'm going to tell her that the 22/hr I'm not going to accept since I'm an Rn with my BSNI'm glad so many of you understood and supported my concernI appreciate all the encouraging words

I work for a home health agency that also serves NJ, and they pay their RNs about 28/hour with shift difs. We also get between 25-40/visit, but we do not get reimbursed for mileage.

I agree with the comment above, counter offer for $28-$30 an hour. I work in Delaware in home care and make $31/hr Would not take a job for $22/hr in home care for that amount even if you are a new grad. My daughter in law is an LPN and that's what she makes an hour $22. Just a word of caution here. As a new grad you may want to get your PEDS experience elsewhere like a hospital or clinic. Home care is long hours and lots of time on your own without peers to help with questions or what to do in certain situations. Be sure you're aware of all the irresponsibility that come with being a home care nurse, for $22/hr you may want to reconsider and keep your psych job. Just saying, don't want to discourage you but know what you're getting into. I've been in home care now for 14 years and it's still tough work and I wouldn't recommend it for a new grad. Good Luck!! Yes, you should definitely understand why PSA pays what they do. They have a set salary range based on reimbursement rates. They are not going to be the same as a hospital rates, that's just something you need to know going in.

The pay rates are determined by the reimbursement rates from Medicaid, which in most cases haven't been increased in years. In fact, most of them have been decreased. Since the majority of their patients receive assistance from this program, Medicaid is what sets the pay rates, not what the nurses ask to be paid. Additionally, in a hospital or other setting, you are working with multiple patients to contribute to the bottom line. At PSA, you're working with only one patient in their home.

Most nurses at PSA work part-time in addition to another position. They like it for the flexibility and the training, plus the one-on-one care you just don't get in a hospital.

1. since NJ is really someting,

while as your salary, from my experience, now it is not the right time for you to talk with them about your salary, maybe later after 3-5 month, after you are familiar with all the things and work here.

2. NJ is really a good choice for you to make the self-improvement, just this chance, you are luckier than others.

so that's the idea of mine.

yes, now is really a vital stage for you.

the choice should also be yours.

PSA Philadelphia starts new grads at $21

I'm sure it varies by state but how difficult was it to get hired on in home health as a new grad? A lot of the places I've checked into, require experience. Some do take new grads but they seem few and far between. If you have any pointers, that would be great!

I just received a registration packet from a pediatric home care agency on Long Island, NY. In it, they state the minimum pay is $25 for RN, $20 for LPN's. They also state I need a medicaid provider # so I think that accounts for the pay rate.

Oh, btw, I did take the job at $32 hour and I have 6 years as an rn. However, I love it and once independent, there will be lots of extra money to be made!

Hey, I was just wondering what you decided to do about PSA? Did you end up bargaining/ taking the position, or did you decide it was just too little? I just got an email back from PSA (5 weeks after interviewing with them), inviting me to their 4-hour orientation where they teach you about home care, documentation and their policies...

It's only $23/hr so I'm not exactly sure what to do. If they're able to give me cases with a short commute, it might be worth it.. and it is per diem, but they basically expect you to commit to a certain day. I'd love to hear what you decided!

Wow, I was actually considering PSA til I read these numbers. Their pay (or should I say lack of) is insane! I started with pediatric home health private duty WITHOUT having my BSN yet or any experience as an RN and make 30/hr at my primary job and 25/hr at my per diem job(only one shift/week). - in NJ.

I'm in Florida, New RN Grad. I interviewed with PSA. They actually want to pay me $16.00/hr, no reimbursment for gas, and training is like $8.00/hr. The sad part is that I'm having such a hard time finding a job that I might take them up on their offer for the experience until I can find something better : (
