Question-wound care certification

Specialties Home Health

Published

I have a question for the home health care nurses.Do any of you have any wound care certifications?I have seen adds in the back of some nursing magazines for weekend prep courses and testing. Is this worthwhile for homecare per-diem?Just curious what is the norm out there for home health care nurses and certain certifications.Any other certifications home care urses can get besides stuff like PICC lines and IV?

Some agencies send nurses to those courses and show evidence of special training to help the agency cut costs, get specialty help for things like wounds.

I know alot in this area are doing it rather than contract with lets say ETs which are very costly.

Thanks Renarian.I doubt this place will send anyone for anything. Can't even get them to keep a schedule for orientation, let alone discuss sending me to a class on their dime!I was growing tired of the drama and decided to go searching elsewhere.A home health care agency on every corner here it seems.Well at least this place has some type of orientation. In my travels on fri,i found that most places won't even send you out with a nurse for 1 visit.I'm new to the Oasis routine,so I guess I will keep rearranging my schedule around them until I get oriented.I thought some type of wound care certification would be helpful.I've had to all but quit most shift work due to health problemsHave been a nurse since 1994.Not sure what else I can do besides try HH.This Oasis ordeal is just unreal. All that paperwork!I've not done an admission yet,but I'm sure once I complete a few dozen........
