Pay for visit prorate?

I'm per diet in my home health/ hospice agency . I went from full time to per diem and did my required weekend this weekend. The requirement is 3 RV and 1 SOC each day.

I get not so good rates. They gave me some pretty bad pt's this weekend, one a hospice pt with u controlled symptoms. I was there almost 3 hours today until the on call nurse could come. And that was an extra visit I agreed to do. S I had an admit and 3 more to go, although I ended up pushing one.

My question is. I got a measly $50 for that almost 3 hour visit. And I very stressful one at that where a 6'5 former drug addict was getting threatening with me. But that's besides the point. A colleague said I should ask for a prorate on that visit.

Hs anyone ever done that?

Ah yes......Pay Per Visit. PPV is a scam ! Which is on track to becoming a nightmare for employers. First of all, two of the nations largest Home Health Care providers are currently being sued for PPV payment. The first suit is much farther along than the second suit just filed last year. They are almost exactly alike. In July of this year, the first lawsuit which was certified class action quite a while ago, reached an important ruling by the first federal court. The federal court agreed with the litigants ( class action ) that PPV violates FSLA law. How do I know this? I am a party in both lawsuits. Stay tuned for more developments. Times are a changing. There is so many violations of the law with PPV, I cant spend any time going into all of them at this time. As I see it employers will soon all switch back to hourly, non-exempt status.

Non-exempt means that the employee is not exempt from the stipulations of the FLSA.

Well, it turns out my company actually can do it. I asked hr. she told me to bring it up to my supervisor she can approve it.

Well, my supervisor is a witch and instead of maybe thanking me for busting my butt this weekend, she actually called to discredit my work instead saying the on call nurse and supervisor did all the work ( completely in untrue) and was ****** I pushed a visit that I made this one in place of. Which I wasn't even going to do, but I don't know it was going to be 3 hours.

I hate am so frustrated with is agency ( hence one of the reasons I dropped full time case management). That I don't even think its worth asking just to be insulted more. I could go over her head, but is the effort worth maybe a $25 more? Probably not.

And yes, PPV is a scam. I know another per diem took had the option of PPv or hourly, but not me. I've done hours of paperwork for this weekend and have hours more and even had some office time for coding and fixing paperwork. Unpaid.

I am so glad to hear this, PPV is a huge ripoff for nurses. I worked per diem for an agency that told me the mileage was included in PPV rate and wanted to send me to an out of town visit. I refused to go unless they paid me separately for the mileage, they finally gave in. I no longer work for any agencies that are PPV.

The company I work for has nothing but PPV, but employees are full time, part time and prn. I am prn and am often asked to see patients that require extended care time, without additional pay. The company I am with is being sued (class action) because of their PPV methods. It is a major ripoff. I hope the class action suits result in changes for nurses. We must remember that we are working in an area where profit is the most important factor! I don't like that, but it is very very true!
