New Oasis C Has anyone seen it yet?


Hi Everyone- just wondering if anyone has seen the new Oasis C form yet. I looked it up on MCM's website last night and it is VERY long. We are supposed to be having a Webinar on it next week and I wanted to be prepared with questions for our staff development person. After having seen the new form (which MCM predicts will take 1.5 to 2 hours for an experienced HHN to complete) I am seriously considering leaving HC which I love. If anyone has seen it or been trained on it, I would love to get other feedback. The paperwork is becoming overwhelming and patient care seems like it comes second to documentation. We still use a paper system and it takes a ridiculously long time to complete all of the necessary paperwork that is required for a SOC/ROC (ROC will also be using the new OASIS C, same one that is used for SOC, no shortened version anymore). Any thoughts on these new forms would be appreciated.

Oh crap. Even longer????? What the heck???? It already takes me over 2 hours just to do the OASIS, nevermind all the other forms that are required by my state and agency. And something tells me that my visit rate isn't going to go up to reflect the increased time it will take to do C. This blows. Dreading it.

Oh dear. I dont think I can stand it if it takes LONGER to do a SOC/ROC. That just bites. We are still paper too. I wish we would have a laptop, then I wouldnt have to write the patient's name on every single page, the computer would do it for me after typing it in ONCE. When will the new OASIS be released for use?

Longer??? How can it get any longer?? We already do 2 paper charts AND a computer oasis- and believe me, if you get crappy software like we have, the computer will NOT re-enter anything for you- you will enter it over and over and if you finish your plan of care the next day you will spend forever putting the correct date on everything... I usually figure it will take 4 hours for a new admit, 3 for a real easy one....... I did 3 in the last 3 days and none of them are done. Im already feeling swamped, longer sounds baaad..... I love the visits and work but the paperwork is killing me.

Thanks for all the replies, after rereading the new OASIS C I believe that is to be the ONLY OASIS to be used now as it has SOC/ROC/RECERT and D/C boxes thaqt can be checked. I don't think I can stand filling out 24 minimum pages every time I do anything. Anyone else think the same thing about the new form?

I may not be doing home health after this. I have enough to do, this new oasis is rediculous. Maybe it will be ok for a SOC, but not for a Recert or DC. Thats just rediculous. whoever is desiging this should be the one who has to do it, then maybe they would have a different set of paperwork. This ticks me off, I was just starting to enjoy HH. I will not do that much paperwork, I just wont.
