My experience with Maxim goes like this.......I accepted a flu clinic assignment of which I had no previous experience. There was a one hour class held at a local motel ( in a bedroom) which I attended with several other nurses. First day I show up at the flu clinic location which was held in a supermarket. I was there with another nurse who had only done one other clinic. We literally did not know what we were doing ( other than giving the flu shot, we knew that part) but, the paperwork, medicare vs private pay and the collecting of money - what a mess. By the end of the day we had $800-900 dollars and the Maxim rep was no where to be found. I was able to get a hold of a supervisor who asked if I would drive the money across town to where he was as they had no one to pick it up. There had never been any mention that I would be left handling the money. Not to mention, I did not feel very safe carrying all that money across town. I thought it was a very poor outfit and decided never to work for them again.

I was curious. Did they change their name?

When they call me it say Maxim Healthcare, but alas they go by Centrus Healthcare.

I noticed they changed their name in one area when I ran across one of their employment ads on an online employment website. It was funny because the ad read Centrus, but in the body of the ad, in the boilerplate language that reminded me of similar Maxim ads, they made a mistake by not changing the name from Maxim to Centrus. Wondered about the change.

Their reputation has grown so bad that they've actually changed their name. Wow. They do suck.

I have noticed in the past with employers that when a corporate name is sullied through incidents in the news, lawsuits, criminal wrongdoing, or just plain bad reputations, they may change their name, trying to run from their past. One of the long term care chains that I used to work for did this. Ten years after the name change you wouldn't know that it was the group of LTC facilities that had been plastered all over the newspapers and on TV unless you had a good memory or, like me, had worked there.

I know! I can probably recite those ads in my sleep, and point out every misleading statement to boot!

Besides stare like comlete perverts and screw up your schedule....and mess up a check....and call at 3 am.....I could go on lol.

I do not go into a lot of detail on this public board. Let us just say that no one, individual or company alike, has an inherent right to treat another human being in that manner. If I told you about it, I believe you would easily agree. Suffice it to say, I no longer recommend this employer to anyone.

Oh, and I tried to list them as a reference a few months later and they denied my existance. I'm pretty sure I exist.....and the pay sucks....just wish more people knew, because I'm sure they get applicants all day long. Poor unsuspecting people................
