Is this doable?

Hi, brand new to home health, although I have worked for hospice for many years. Am starting next week. I'm worried about meeting the target of 7 visits/day. I've talked to 2 nurses from this agency and they said it's definitely doable. I'm still worried, though. I'm salaried, not paid per visit, so what happens if I don't do the 7 per day (or 35 per week?), especially when first starting out? What if I have to leave early?

You need to talk to your employer about that. They may doc you for whatver amount of time you dont do, when you need time off. Each agency is different. If all your visits are in the same area and you dont have to do alot of driving, 7 is doable. I usually do 6-8 per day. I have done up to 12, but that was a LONG day. When I need time off, I have OTO time to cover it so I still get paid.

They told me we have 18 PTO days plus 6 paid holidays. She also said they are very family-friendly and they are very understanding where children are concerned. Plus, the job is salaried which we both know has it's pluses, and minuses! It almost sounds to good to be true, so I'm a bit wary....

I worked for a company, salaried and they were usually very good about PTO and not docking me if I didn't get par (altho I had a huge area to cover and they took that into consideration), but I only worked 32 hours a week, and they felt that they owned me from 8 to 5 M-F. I was told that several times, even tho I wasn't 40 hours per week. So I would make sure and check with the company about
