I live in Ohio if that makes a difference. How do you record your mileage for tax purposes? Do you record mileage between patients or weekly mileage. Also, do you record mileage from your home to the first patient and on your way home? I have been saving gas receipts.

My agency records it for us...but I keep track of it as well. They reimburse us 38 cents a mile...NOT the IRS rate..so I can claim the difference. I claim all mileage except to the office/first visit and the last visit/office home. I don't keep gas receipts...hard to show that it is 100% for business use. Maybe someone else can explain that one better. I keep a daily tab on the mileage though and just add it up at the end of the week/month.
