Clinical Team Support

I just took a position with a large HH agency and I am super excited. However, I'm not really sure what I am going to be doing. My position is called Clinical Team Support Nurse. The job description states that I will triage phone calls from clinicians, doctors, and patients, fax orders to/from doctors, call md's prn for clinicians, run reports for admits and dc's. It is an office based position, but I may pick up some visits at times. I was told in the interview that I will be like an assistant to the clinical managers. Does anyone have this at their company? Can you tell me a little about it? I am super excited. I just want to know what to expect!

All I can say is that I'd love to have someone at my agency with that job description, because right now most of that falls to me!

We have 2 clinical team managers that do what you will be doing. We have one that has any patients that have any PT/OT/SLT +/or nursing and the other mgr has nursing patients only. The field RNs are the case managers and it has helped us to have a mgr in the office that does all of that work for us. We have a ICD9 coder and a person that pulls supplies, schedules HHAs as well. Makes it very nice for us. You'll get all kind of interesting calls from your nurses in the field. Happy for you, but I want to be with the patients...and I am very thankful for the clinical team mgrs so that I can focus on patient care

We have TONS of clinical support nurses where i work and i don't know what i would do without them!! They are a wonderful resource for us nurses out in the field. They read our monitors that are in the homes and do follow up phone calls with any problems they see, take orders and input them into the computer, look up lab results for us.....their uses are endless and SOOOOOOOOO much appreciated! I hope you enjoy your job and good luck to you!! I love home health and hope i never have to do anything else again!!

Sounds like our agency.. lots of clinical support, so really, the field nurses need only tend to their patients, the clinical staff does the rest. Of course, the nurses have to do the SOC, ROC, and Recert paperwork and their daily visit notes, but that's about it. It's a great set up for all.
