Careers and how to get there?

Hi! My son had a very rare seizure disorder that came on fast and furious when he was 2.5. Long story short, he was on 7 medications, built up toxic levels on one, lost all of his speech, couldn't walk. We were told he'd "never be normal". We put him on a Ketogenic Diet and within a month his 30 t/c seizures a day were gone. He's now 8 and off all meds and as of last year, he is also off the diet. Needless to say, I believe in the power of alternative therapies. I am only in nursing school and have a long road ahead of me, but would love more information about holistic nursing - what types of jobs are out there? How do you specialize? Is there anything I can do now that would help me down the road? Thanks so much!

I know there are educational opportunities for holistic nursing through some universities, as well as alternative health teaching companies. The certification process for Holistic nurses is similar to other specialties. The difficult part for historic nurses might be the trouble finding a job specifically slotted for holistic nurses. I think the trend is probably geared more toward holistic nursing as a part of something else, like hospice, med surg, or women's wellness. Other opportunities to consider might be wellness coaching or working in an alternative healthcare practitioners' office.
