Specializes in cardiac, renal, palliative care.

I am currently in a BSN program and will be graduating in a year. I have always been interested in holistic or alternative medicine. In some ways I wish I had gone straight into holistic/alternative/CAM medicine and bypassed nursing. I guess having nursing as background education is good though. Anyways I was wondering if anyone can give me tips on where to work when I graduate that is somewhat holistic. I plan on going for my masters at tennessee state university. Their holistic certificate program is online and you basically get to choose what areas you want to get certificates in for holistic practice. I might decide to just get certificates gradually in areas I am insterested in. I just don't know what to do when I get out of school since I don't have an holistic education yet. I plan on learning how to do acupuncture and in addition possibly reiki, aromatherapy, herbology, or hypnotherapy. I do not want to work in a hospital. I would prefer a doctor's office or clinic. Please comment if you have any suggestions. :)

Specializes in Oncology Home Care.

Join the Holistic Nures Association now and start networking with like minded nurses who will help you decide what it is you want to do and where you can work as a holistic nurse. You can also take courses online in many different areas of Holistic therapies such as aromatherapy, massage Reiki etc.

Also buy books on the subjects you are interested in, Amazon has a hugh assortament and if you have a kindle most come in ereader format.

I too am interested in Holistic Nursing. I'm studying aromatherapy at this time using essential oils with cancer patients for relief of nausea, pain management. I hope within the next year to start my own business being a wellness coach using alternative therapies. Hope this helps.
