My focus is Chinese Herbal medicine, so please take my reply in that context.




For Chinese herbs, two books are used as the standards in the field:
Chinese Medical Herbology and Pharmacology ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/097...lance&n=283155 )

and
Chinese Herbal Materia Medica 3rd Edition ( http://www.bastyr.edu/bookstore/orde...1810}&catid=18)




For Western botanical medicine, there are a few choices. Probably the most anticipated book in the field is the new edition of the Textbook of Natural Medicine.

There is a few more options but I am drawing a blank right now. I'll check on Friday at my school's bookstore.
