ortho pain/edema management

by dpw

I currently do home visits on a client s/p, 10 days pin replacement (hip). Dx with hematomas from "over doing it". We have tried heat, ice, ROM and massage to manage pain and edema. Pain still remains at an 8 with additional edema. Notifed MD who said continue with what you are doing. Is there any thing else that we might try? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Dee
