At the summer camp I have worked at in the past, the Global Youth Village, homeopathy has been offered as a treatment choice for the teens (and parent indicate this as treatment of choice.) The RN operates under standing orders from a MD/Homeopath. By the way, I think they are looking for medical staff for the summer if anyone is interested in checking them out.

It is amazing to me at this point in time that there are still the naysayers spewing forth their venomous negativity as a few of the posts portrayed. It reminded me of the Dateline they had on the TV years ago when they went after the homeopaths with that same "I'll get you" attitude. I have witnessed some amazing things done with homeopathy and have had the opportunity to practice myself and you could never take away those wonderful and positive experiences....parents grateful that their child was "healed" from their horrid flu after only a few doses of the "miracle pills!" I also saw an MD who was also trained at the Hahnemann Institute bring a friend out of a coma with a single potent dose of homeopathic Opium! Living in Seattle I am in the hub of some pretty wonderful open minds and love that even Rite-Aid and other local drug stores are carrying some remedies and related items. I hope it is this way in other places. What does it cost you closed-minded people to try and see that there are other ways of healing?! Why go out and bad-mouth this lovely science (yes, it is a science) when you could even prove it to yourself. I'm not saying you have to read the Materia Medica but at least read some of the many great books out there on the subject and educate yourselves before you try to dispute what has been practiced for so many years!! Did you know that the Royal Family has always had their own homeopathic practitioner and that the practice has been far more accepted in Europe (& India) than it ever was here in the states. Years ago I graduated from a program at the Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital in Philadelphia. (It has since become part of Drexel University). But it was named for Samuel Hahnemann, the Austrian scientist who developed the science and did the proving. I learned that many of the US medical schools were of that ilk until it all changed and of course the AMA got in and got rid of the homeopaths. So just try to have an open mind for a change and realize that there are so many wonderous ways of healing out there and that the AMA or the"Western" way is not the only thing that works...

I think venomous negativity is something of a highly charged response to a few dissenting opinions.

I have a question - how does the water know what it is meant to be carrying? Why does it remember the active ingredient rather than the effluent, antibiotic residue, run off, industrial pollution or coffee it has also carried?

Thumbs up Re: Homeopathy
One must understand that Homeopathy is a "vibrational" medicine and does not make sense to the usual way that we think, especially with the concepts of dilution and strength. It is true that the more the remedy is diluted and "succussed" (or shaken), it actually becomes "stronger" in it's effects, but also works more on the emotional and spiritual body and somewhat less on actual physical symptoms...this is like when someone takes their "constitutional" remedy which can be in a 200C and even L and M levels. Obviously this is where the skill of the practitioner comes in in completing a very comprehensive evaluation. This is also certainly different when taking your own "case" when you have a cold or back ache and you want a single remedy that is the correct one for that particular ailment. The whole of homeopathy is just difficult for our brains to wrap around...like how a remedy of "Coffea cruda" can be used when someone can't sleep! Or for that matter how Rhus Tox which is made from Poison Ivy can be used for a case of Poison Ivy or a certain kind of cold or for joint issues! But isn't it worth trying something that is so non-toxic rather than attacking the body with other powerful drugs with side-effects?!
I have been a practitioner for many years and have dealt with many closed minds (especially the MD's!) and have tried to remind the naysayers that fear and ignorance are always detrimental to any healing. So yes, I have seen and heard the "venomous negativity" but luckily see that changing...or at least I live in an area where there are lots of Naturopaths and CAM practitioners. Heck, I even found out that my 91 year old father was able to buy a Leg Cramp remedy in rural North Carolina and he said it was the only thing that worked!!! And our 13 year old Lab's hind quarters arthritis responds well to the remedy that I concocted for her depending on her symptoms. Not to mention some Rescue Remedy in her water! Just amazing..............

I believe you. My point was that I hadn't seen any "venomous negativity" on this thread. People who don't agree with you or whose opinions are different, or who ask questions about a topic with which they are less familiar (or affiliated with) than you are not necessarily fearful ignorant naysayers nor close minded. One needs to navigate that fine line between being open minded and having ones' brain fall out.

But surely that doesn't mean we should just throw up our hands and not try to understand.

Leaving aside the question of dilution and strength of effect, I'd still like to know how the remedy knows whcih element is supposed to be utilised by the consumer - the intentional active ingredient versus the other substances the water has been in contact with.

But isn't it worth trying something that is so non-toxic rather than attacking the body with other powerful drugs with side-effects?!
Absolutely. Unless it means I get sicker in the meantime because I'm not using something that's effective. Which is why I'd like more information.
