FNP program offering advanced standing to naturopaths

by Jen H

HI Group-

I am a Naturopathic Physician, but am extremely interested in becoming an FNP for various reasons. I have *heard* of programs offering advanced standing to ND's, but am not aware of any specific schools that do so. Is anyone out there aware of any??
Thank you!
Jen

dont know, most nursing schools will not give an advanced nursing degree to individuals without them being a nurse first...
you could notifiy a few nursing schools in your area to get input, your previous course work would be reviewed of course and go from there

just curious what your reasons are for wanting to become an FNP when you are already a naturopath. I am looking at both myself and while nurse practitioner would be easier/quicker for me to obtain with my previous education, I like the holistic focus with an ND program. -would appreciate your input
thanks

You have to be educated and licensed as an RN in order to be an NP -- there are "direct entry" programs that combine basic nursing education with the NP program into a single degree, but you still have to complete the basic requirements for "basic" RN licensure, and maintain RN licensure, in order to also be certified/licensed as an NP.
