I agree with some of the above posters that we need to look at the energy fields and energy medicine with open minds! After many medical problems myself recently, I have begun exploring some alternative (non "mainstream") forms of treatment for myself and it has been very interesting and eye-opening.

I have begun exploration of Reiki, in particular, and have found that there are actually legitimate studies out there that confirm its efficacy, and it is currently the subject of studies by the NIH and the VA.

I view Reiki at the leasat as a non-invasive and very gentle treatment modality for use on both myself and others that can cause no harm, and at the best a valuable tool to assist healing, relieve stress and bring calm to the recipient. How many standard medical treatments can make those claims?

As I get older, I find that I need to suspend some of my built-up skepticisms and look at things more often with a "beginner's mind." Western medicine is not the only way of doing things, and in fact, many other forms have been around and used successfully for far longer! I just think there is room for more than one way to health out there!

I have a question? As a nurse (who has many nurse friends in my own middle age group) most of us tend to look more and more toward "self energy medicine". We find many pts. in our age group using multiple drugs (>20-27) on admit, and we worry about the use of so many drugs and interactions. Less is more seems to be how we think. Meditation, healther food, less time spent on stuff and more on finding what is important to you. Is this something that comes with our age.....or is it something that comes with the times?
