Posting Licensed Number in social media

Nurses HIPAA

I am just wandering does it posting your certificate or license with number visible to everyone will do harm to you?

Well, given the fact that it (license number) is a public data.

Whats your thoughts... thank you

ANY information you post in social media can be used by others to steal your identity. Yes our license numbers are public but why give anyone a leg up to use it.

Thanks, I guess your right

Why would you post your license on social media? Do you post your address and other personal information? It is NEVER a good idea to post this kind of information.

Why make it easy on others? yes, it's public data but they have to go through several steps to get it, don't make things easy for others

Why in the world would you WANT to post your license number?

License numbers are no big secret. That being said, it's not prudent to plaster it over social media.

Anyone that knows a certain set of information about me can quite easily find my name and address just from that one set of data. Consequently, I don't give it out unless I'm required to. Yes, that information is a matter of public record, but that doesn't mean I have to make it any easier to get.

Social media is never a secure site, and personal information shouldn't be freely shared in that forum. You would not share your social security number or even your telephone number in an open forum, so I would think that your license # would fall under the same thing.

I am not sure the intent or the purpose. If someone wants your license number (say to verify your license for a job) then social media would be the last place I would post to tell someone about it.

My state has professional license holders information on the secretary of state's website. You can go on the website, look up by license #, and get their name, DOB, and address. That bugs me and I would never post my license #.
