Passing end of semester HESI

Nursing Students HESI

Hello everyone,

I am in my second semester of Nursing at Henry Ford College. I just failed my end of semester HESI test, I am so devastated and wondering if anyone can give me some ideas on how to figure these questions out? I am usually really good at breaking questions down and answering them, but this time I don't know what happened. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not up on HESI questions, but just wanted to say hang in there. One test does not define you and mean you have failed everything. Failed a few exams myself (lo, these many years ago); been a nurse a lotta years, got through grad school, still working.

There is no special method. Every one who has passed Hesii exams most likely studied their pants off and answered a plethora of NCLEX-RN questions.

HESI is a whole different monster. I do fantastic on my theory exams (my instructor writes questions for the actual NCLEX and her tests are very difficult), but I have yet to pass a HESI exit exam. Dont let this define your ability. This is just one style of test. I study my butt off for school. I practice minimum 25 questions a day, but usually over 50. I review my notes and lectures. I review the book if I need more depth on subjects. ANd like I said, I do very well on my theory exams because of my hard work. Its just something about that dang test. But I dont worry about it, and you shouldnt either. Unless the exit exam is used for matriculation. In that case, I hope a HESI guru comments here with some good tips for you.

I think it's very important to do practice questions throughout nursing school. I did thousands. Then in the last half of my last semester, I did almost 4,000 practice questions because it was required by my advisor. I have taken 8 HESI exams (that includes two versions of the exit exam) and have done well on them and I think it's because of all the practice. I can't say for sure, but it seems to have helped a lot. If you have access to adaptive quizzing on the evolve site, go for that. Use the HESI review book and find practice questions wherever you can. Good luck to you!
