HESI A2 Quick Question

Nursing Students HESI

Published

I am new to this site, but I thought this would be the best place to ask this question.

To pass the HESI A2 pre-enterence exam, is it an absolute necessity to have completed Chemistry and Biology?

I have completed A&P I and a beginning algebra course, and am in the middle of my A&P II along with the intermediate algebra course (finishing Eng 102 as well).

Will my current education be enough if I used the Evolve Reach Admission Assesment Exam Review by HESI, along with the McGraw-Hill's Nusing School Entrance Exams by Thomas Evangelist?

I would love to apply for the fall sem. but am worried I need the other classes for a good score on the exam.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated. :)

The chemistry section of the test was fairly difficult. I'm not saying you won't be able to pass it but I had just finished chemistry class when I took the HESI and I didn't do as well as I thought I would. However, the study guide by Elseiver was great and did help in the other sections. Perhaps if you take it now and don't do as well as you'd hoped, at least you'll have an idea of what is on the test and not be going in blind next time! Good luck, I hope you do great.

I personally would wait to take it, but had a friend who hadn't taken Anatomy and studied like a maniac and did surprisingly well. I would definitely use the study guide!! Just like the first poster suggested, you might just try it out and see how you do. I agree about the chem section. It was tricky and not what I had expected. Everyone told me the guide doesn't prepare you for anatomy, physiology or chem...you need a good understanding of these going into the test but you might surprise yourself. Good luck to you!

Thank you both very much for your replies :). Sorry I didn't reply for so long :o. I was finally able to speak with the pre-nursing advisor at UM Flint, he said they do not use the chemistry and A & P sections. I have still decided to wait. There are a few classes you can take from the core nursing curriculum I would like to get out of the way to make the class load lighter while in the program....that is if I am accepted of course. Thanks again!!:D
