@Lyndsay

I am trying to apply Spring 2015. These stats really provide a perspective.

I see many toppers were rejected in the fall 2014 thread. There seem to be an issue with evaluation in most cases. Do you know anyone with good score denied with correct evaluation. I was trying to understand if there is any objective criteria for selection or not.

I completed Hesi a week ago. Overall score: 88.8

Vocabulary - 84, A&P - 88, Grammar - 90, Math - 90, Reading - 92, CT - 870.

Yea verily, I'm trying to comb through the ~550 post thread and sort commonalities. And I have a post, near the end, asking for folks HESI and GPA info.

One commonality is high CT. I'm not sure how the information in this thread is put together, but OP is in the UTHSC Spring 2014 thread as well. Unless people are lying, there are many in the 900-949 range, and more than 1 in the 950-1000 range.

These folks tended to have mediocre HESI scores outside of CT, though (i.e.: below 90 overall), and the same with their GPA- below 3.75, and in a few cases, even lower on science GPA.

This has lead myself and a few friends to conclude that there is a considerable amount of weight placed on the CT. Though, to be completely fair, it may mean nothing- other factors in which we are not aware.

Plus, parsing ~550 responses has taken us a couple of hours with limited reporting criteria (looking only for scores/numbers simplifies an initial pass). We may expand that in the future (this is actually something we do for fun).

If you see people with top scores being rejected, then it would suggest: A) there is a hidden factor other than scores/grades that we are unaware of (heck, possibly even the personality test); B) the individual was buffing their scores in front of their peers (it's not uncommon).

We favor, currently, B, but we have discussed A being true, especially in regards to the dubious personality/learning style test, though we cannot see how such a simple/mindless little consistency test could be used to determine much- it allows you to directly pick what shows up (thus, it is meaningless). We also thought that pre-reqs being finished was a factor- accept those with high GPA/HESI with completed pre-reqs first, as it would be detrimental to accept someone that bombs a pre-req last minute. Then we gave a final bit of credence to course equivalence: the myriad of courses folks can take at their particular university, which while accredited, may not fulfill something with the UT system. And without a transcript review, as many universities, it makes it all the more agonizing.

Just our thoughts.
