by sol0305 Oct 14, '12Hi all, I'm planning to take HESI A2 next month. I have been working around with the Study Guide from Evolve but seems as Vocabulary portion isn't very well prepared on the Study Guide as many people have complained. So what are some good methods, or sources that I can use to improve my Vocabulary for the test? I'm international student and English is my second language, so vocabulary test has always been a nightmare to me. Thanks a lot!

- Oct 16, '12 by KSpriggsI recently took the HESI and scored a 92% overall, I feel that the best study guide was "Admission Assessment Exam Review" I bought it on Kindle but there are also paperback copies available. Most of the vocab that I saw on the exam were medical terms and the grammar was elementary level. You said that English is your second language so I'd make sure that you know the following: there, their, they're, your, you're.... there were a lot of contractions and homonyms. Examples of some of the vocab questions were: A patient was recently admitted for an acute cough. What does the word "acute" mean in the previous sentence?
If you get that study guide it will definitely be worth it, good luck on your exam! - Oct 16, '12 by sol0305Thanks for your responses! I really appreciate. KSpriggs, you made a great score! I guess I'm fine with the basic stuff. I'm using the "Admission Assessment Review" you mentioned. Would you think studying vocabulary from the book "wordSmart" (my friends use it for SAT/ACT) will help? Vocabulary seems to be a huge source to pull out questions, so I kinda don't know which way I should study. fingers crossed I guess lol

While there is a large portion dedicated to vocabulary, ALL of the questions on my exam were related to the medical field. The vocab section from the study guide was spot on. It probably wouldn't hurt to use the SAT book, but your time could be better focused.
