Hesi Help!!

Nursing Students HESI

Published

hello!

I am going to be taking the Hesi exam next month and I am so worried. My school tests on Math, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, and Grammar. I have been studying the Hesi Admission Assessment Exam Review, as well as McGraw-Hill's Evolve Reach (Hesi) A2. I am very worried because I have no clue what to expect.

Are the vocabulary words the same as what is read in the book? If not, what do I expect?

I am not so great in math. ANy advice? WHat type of problems should I be expecting?

And whats up with the grammar? I would say I'm pretty good on that, but when I went over the book, they teach definitions all over again.

My main question is what should I be expecting? I have anxiety thinking of this exam, as it is my ticket to the nursing program.

Any help would be much appreciated!! I have to score an 80 or above on each section as well..

Thank you :)

Hey, I just took it last month. The math section is identical to book. 90% conversions and fractions. And know ml to liters.

The grammar is ....complete sentences correctly. I got a 85.50. Because I messed up in the vocab.

The math I got a 90%.

Make sure to study the a&p and bio on quizlet.com and cram. You will do well.

Oh yeah the reading section is long, easy and boring. FYI

Thanks for replying!! You honestly relieved some of my stress because I felt like I was having anxiety not knowing what to expect lol.

Luckily, I do not need to take the a&p..Im in the process of studying the math from the Elsevier book, which is plenty of fraction help. Math is my weakest subject which is why I'm pretty worried!!

Do you think I need to memorize all the prefixes in order to do good on the vocab? I memorized all the words in the book but there is no way the words will only come out of the book.

Thanks again :)

Yes, learn all the vocab from the book.I forgot some, it showed up on the test. But go on Quizlet and Cram.com, and search HESI vocab, it has alot of vocab on there as well.

For the math, keep practicing the fractions and measurement conversions, and math conversions by hand, so you will get use to it on the test because you are timed. Dont worry not for each section separately but your have 4 hrs to finish your test, and the time runs. Study and you will do fine.

Was there a lot of word problems for you for the math portion?

How is the reading comprehension portion?

It's just basic reading comprehension. The same as the HESI practice book, that you must purchase in order to do well on the exam.

Very few word problems. If you know the fractions, (all types), conversions, and 1 question on military time...you should Ace the math section like I did.

Sorry, I forgot to tell you that the Bio part was alot about DNA, genetic stuff I got a 76% in that area. The A&P was broad as well, I got a 80% in that section. You must really study for those sections...use quizlet and cram.com.

For us, vocab was all medical terminology. Knowing roots should help. Math was pretty straightforward.
