HESI Entrance Exam Question

Nursing Students HESI

Published

Hello all,

I am about to take my HESI A2 Exam tomorrow at 9AM in the morning at UTA. I am freaking out because I barely got the chance to study. I have already recently taken the TEAS V exam for TWU Nursing. However, I did so poor. I managed to get a 68.7% Overall score (proficient) on the TEAS V also due to me not managing time well. I ran out of time for the math portion and had 8 questions left and wasn't able to guess either. I have been trying to do some research on here. Please, anyone... Could you please tell me of your overall experience with the HESI A2 Exam! And am I able to go through all sections... Or is it proctored to where you can only take one section at a time. I have also read that UTA doesn't need A&P in their HESI exam. Is this true? Does anyone know? Also, if I were to receive a score that didn't cut it, how many times am I able to retake and when?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Every school is different. I have taken the HESI twice, the first time at one college, each section was given a time limit, and on the math portion was able to use calculator ( I was unable to finish the math as well and scored a 34 just on the math portion). I failed it altogether with a 67 by doing really bad on the math- I didnt study at all before the first attempt. I heard it was a test you really couldnt study for- either you knew it or you didnt- but that was VERY incorrect- you CAN study for it and I would say if you have time to push it off for another week to do so, if not, STUDYYYY!!!! This weekend! My second attempt, I think I gave my self 4 days to study, but definitely worked on my math ( basic math fractions, ratios..) and the testing was different. I was given 3 hrs OVERALL to finish all three sections ( math, vocab and reading). Finished it in 2 hrs. And I wasnt able to use a calculator. And I passed my second attempt with an overall 82. Your school should have instructions with what sections you need to study and how they are timed, youll atleast get this information when you go into test ( or should) and how often you can take it. One school may allow 2 attempts in one school year, others may not- the one I go to allows it only once per year. So just check with your school- relax!! It really isnt as bad as your mind will make it- I used the study guide and test-guide.com i believe to help with the time management. You need to try to train yourself to do a question per minute ;) Good luck!

Thank you @AngPartridge3 for your advice. I just took the HESI A2 Exam today at 9AM and I already received my score the minute that I was finished. I got an overall 82%, not the score that I personally wanted. I also have a question, what do you think that the odds are for a 3.89 cumulative GPA with an 82% score on the HESI A2 exam? Also, I have an A in AP2, B in AP1, B General Chem I, A Intro to Chem, and A in Microbiology. Do you think that I can honestly get in? Or should I retake the HESI A2 Exam?

Thanks!
