Any Recent Hesi test takers out there? Maybe in the last week or so etc....

Nursing Students HESI

Published

I take my hesi next week the 14th. I'm studying now and just want to hear some different feedback. I have read posts about the hesi from others on here but some have been older posts from months ago. Come on and spill the beans! We have to look out for each other thats what being a nurse is all about working together with others and helping those who are in need. I'm in need. Anyway I look forward to hearing everyone's experience.

That is so great! Can you share what tools you used to prepare you for the exam? Thanks

I am a returning student with family and health-unrelated career so it is a challenge.... but today I have taken the HESI entrance test and passed Yay! Yay! Yay! Yay!

My average for all 5 required sections at Broward College (Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Grammar, Anatomy & Physiology, and Math) was 98%.

I hope to pass these along as the following helped tremendously, in addition to studying day and night for about 1 week, but also getting enough rest and eating right as well as supplementing with extra vitamins lol!:

~ The Elsevier book.

~ http://caring4you.net/Hesi_StudyGuide.pdf read thoroughly and did the self-tests to know exactly what I was lacking and how to do it, math fractions/percentages, even includes Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, and more! I thank God for Anneliese Garrison, RN at caring4you.net for the West Coast University HESI Study Guide!!

~ HESI A2 vocab flashcards | Quizlet Vocabulary - took the "test" multiple times and found that this along with others at quizlet (just type HESI A2 in the search box) was beneficial... such as Measurement conversions flashcards | Quizlet for conversions, etc. See another: Testing Endocrine System - HESI | Quizlet

~ "+(dtit.length>0?decodeURIComponent(dtit.charAt(0).toUpperCase()+dtit.substr(1)):"Practice Test")+" helped with metric conversion and it is timed (good practice for quick thinking during test)

~

Percentages were a bit tricky for me so I absolutely adored this guy's method for learning it BxR=P. Then .... Percent and Ratio Practice Questions Practiced with these! Answers are at the bottom of the page.

Hope this helps someone out there.

That is great goalNP! That is so great and your score is so desired!

Would you happen to know what was covered on the A&P section? Was it more towards the Endocrine System such as hormones and glands? How did you prepare for the section? Your score is amazing so you must be doing something right.

I took the HESI today and was frustrated that the majority of the math questions were .....My school only required math (55 questions), reading comprehension (55 questions), grammar (55 questions) and vocabulary (55 questions) (all subjects were found in the HESI study guide available at the school library - highly recommended!). The last sections were based on you as a person, your learning style, reasoning, leadership, and does not affect your grade; I think it just lets them know what kind of person you are. It took me just under two hours to complete but you have three hours so there is no need to fret over the time. Having been out of school for 5 years, I was elated that I got a final score of 88%. Now I sit and wait on the list until it's my time to start school. Granted, your test may not be in that exact same sequence as mine. The girl next to me was doing the math section which was her last section of the test whereas it was my first subject. Either way, the Evolve study guide is probably the best one to reference since they are the same people who wrote the exam. Hope this helps!

Namaste.

when I took the HESI - I went over basic math stuff, percentages, dividing/mult fractions, dosages, etc. I then went over all the basic body systems..this seemed to help me. The A&P quesitons were hard so all you can do is do an over all review and hope that A&P class comes back to you.

:)

Juliansmom2011,

Hi! I must say that some of the A&P questions are so basic and easy anyone could answer them... however, some made me think hard LOL.

Here, take a look at these: Hesi-AP flashcards | Quizlet These words and definitions look amazingly similar to the HESI test. As well as this little test from proprofs: Chapter 23 (press the start button to generate a question/answer format that will be great incentive).

Glad to be of help!

Thank you so much!

Holy moly, I didn't spent one second studying for the Hesi, and I haven't had math for who knows how many years...

How do I study for the vocabulary section of the Hesi a2 exam? Should I just study the words in the evolve book?

I wish I could tell you how but honestly there wasn't but one or two words from the hesi study guide. I'm not sure how they expect you to study the vocab when the guide doesn't help. I'm not sure if they even give you medical terms either cause those words weren't medical that I had on mine and I just took the hesi for the third time this year. I would say just make a good guess.

Wow really? How do they expect us to pass?
