1) Breathe deeply

2) Go to a place deep within myself, imagine something pleasant/beautiful

3) Walking! Brisk walks in the early morning, or whenever you can, always helps alleviate stress.

4) Remind yourself; "This too shall pass"

5) Ask yourself: " on my dying day, how important will this, (the stressor), really be?"

Grace Oz took all mine, and even added a few more. :) They are all great! I am going to add: keep a journal. Then when you are having a challenging day, you can read about the better ones you've had. Plus it helps to get all the feelings and experiences out on paper - good or bad ones. :)

I really like #5 graceoz, it really puts things into perspective!

Usually I go straight to the kitchenand cook because I'm too wound up to just go right into relaxation moderight away and it helps to have something to do, talk to the spouse about my day if he's around, eat, play on the computer and walk the dogs and then it's bedtime.

The tanning bed works wonders for me! I also surf the net or sit and watch tv every great now and then. I also enjoy walking in the yard taking in the beauty of nature.

I'm not a nurse yet, but I do have my own relaxation techniques. Generally, I have a couple of cd's burned that have indian flute music or thunderstorm/rain sounds on them. I'll listen to those for 10-20 minutes and then pick up a book and immerse myself in someone else's problems for a while. Stretching relieves lots of built up tension, too.

Yup, the tanning bed is wonderful.........so is time spent w/ my grandson Eli (I call it "baby therapy" ) and gardening. I also enjoy my nighttime 'chats' with God, which never fail to send me to sleep peacefully.

I do exercise 7 days a week

I get off work and head straight to the gym, to work out before going home. That way no stress ever comes home with me
