I'm so angry and stuff

Nurses Stress 101

Published

How do you guys handle your anger? How do you manage to let it not show on your face? Please share.

I am so ...(mixed emotions). Let's just say I tried so hard not to act childish but my feelings were really hurt and was mad at my superior for refusing to give me the chance to start the patient's IV and gave it to my co-nurse. I was able to remain calm for some time but by the end of the shift I started to feel toxic and gave the incoming joker-nurse the . Which no doubt is more negative reputation for me.

Am I a bad person if I can't take a joke in a stressful moment?

I'm not as mad right now as before but I'm losing the will to start IV fluids for the rest of my career.

:crying2: I just don't understand why I can't be given a chance to practice IV insertion just because I failed with my last two recent attempts on some other patient... I don't even understand what I did wrong that time...I've managed to start IVs before...

Oh, the lowering self-esteem, what do you do about it?

Next time when I'll start an IV, I won't ask my senior to double-check the vein with me....
