Congrats on the 2 Tweety - you are doing good!

RN in 3, that sounds like a great plan! I should really start incorporating some exercise routine into mine - but I think I would prefer Chinese water torture to exercising. Don't know what my problem is there - I have to get out of that mindset, I'm just not sure how.

Well, I was not very good last week, so I was shocked when I weighed myself and had actually lost a few more pounds. I'm beginning to think my scale is broken. Hmm.

Anyway - sorry I can't respond to everybody - as usual am busy like mad - but here's wishing a healthful day to everybody - mind and body.
Sarah, Sarah, Sarah... your scale is not broken, hon! And YOU were not "bad." You may have made a few bad choices, but sounds like overall you are doing quite well! I think the key to exercising is finding something that DOES work for you and make you feel good. I sure as heck do not enjoy running. To me it is torture. To others it is freedom. I prefer certain types of workout DVDs that cater to my other interests (i.e. they're usually based on dance somehow as that is what I enjoy doing). You may have to check around to figure out what will be enjoyable for you. I know you enjoy riding, so maybe you can find stuff that will make you a better rider (dunno, I am pretty clueless when it comes to our equine friends!). Or maybe you'd enjoy yoga tapes. You'll figure it out!

Thanks. You should be a paid self-esteem booster, you know that? :chuckle I still have to wonder about the scale, but you're right about the exercise - if only I could "practice what I preach", huh? I am not a very good rider, so maybe you're onto something there. I could get in some practice and get some exercise. There's nobody out here that teaches, but perhaps I could get some books or something. I was thinking of trying riding my old mare bareback as I hear that's more work than using a saddle - have to practice balance, grip and all that stuff. Maybe I will give that a whirl. Of course, it just snowed last night - so probably not today - Maybe I can make that my goal for the spring (that way I won't be using the cold weather as an excuse)- start riding once a week bareback, then twice a week and so on to help get me into shape. Ok - that sounds good - now if I start veering off track, somebody please cyber-smack me!

    Thanks!

I hate exercise too but I see it as a necessary evil . Luckily I have all the equipment in the house so at least I don't have to drag my fat butt to the gym..LOL.

Well, I have been on my new eating plan for 12 hours now and you know what? I'M HUNGRY...LOL! Just had a salad but I am still hungry. Have to go see what else I can eat that's not bad.

Riding bareback is warmer than riding with a saddle. There are some good books out there for fitness and yoga for riders. Some of the exercises can be done on horseback.

Hello healthy living peeps! I "see" everyone is exercising their bones off, and eating healthy according to your definition of "healthy".

Has anyone ever heard of "the Rice diet"? My youngest dd was asking me about it last night. She met someone who lost 90 pounds on that diet in two months. Tell me it aint so?

DD #2 is changing gyms today. A new one was built near where she just moved to, and she likes it soooo much better. They offer a lot more, the gym is larger, etc. So, tonight we get to go workout again...only in a brand new fitness center.

We're having spaghetti again for dinner (leftovers from yesterday's dinner). I made it with ground turkey meat which feels lighter in me tummy. The older I get, the heavier my tummy feels when I eat beef, so I don't eat much beef.....and rarely eat pork because it upsets my tummy. Soon, I'll be eating baby food again if my body keeps getting sick everytime I eat today's foods.

    Thanks guys.

RN in 3, good luck with your plan. I find making daily fitness diet goals helps.

Renee, have fun at the new gym. This past year I've discovered the joys of ground turkey breast, it's great. I had turkey sloppy joes last night in fact. Tonight if was curried tofu and spinach. Yum.

Thanks Tweety! I'd rather eat turkey breasts better than any other part of the turkey. I'm a poultry, fish, seafood gal myself...with an occasional steak and/or pork ribs. I usually only eat beef or pork ribs when I eat out on rare occasions. Those meats are a treat that I save for those dining out experiences. My favorite fish to eat when dining out or eating in is baked or broiled Salmon -- and it must be FRESH Salmon.

Well, we'll be leaving for the gym around 1830 hour. I'm looking forward to seeing the new gym, and learning about all the classes they have to offer.

Employment wise.........right now I'm working as dd's nanny/maid/personal assistant. Yes, she's actually paying me to do this job. I get free room and board, all the food and snacks I care to divulge in, taxied around by her, or the use of her car when she is not at work; and in two weeks when she gets paid I'll get paid. That money will be used for my TX nursing license so I can return to work again. What a joyous day that will be for me, too. It's been soooo long since I've worked outside the home that I'm actually looking forward to it. I've got to remain healthy, and healthy to me is nurturing my spirit, my mind, my body, my emotional state of wellness, and just feeling all around whole again.

Here I am and glad to have found this thread. It's time for me to get the weight off. I have about 100 pounds to lose but I'm trying to look at it as 10 pounds at a time. I think alot of my overeating had to do with the stress at work. Now that I'm away from that there's hope!

Hi everybody! I am so glad to have found this thread. I need to lose 50 lbs and get in better shape. I KNOW if I eat better and exercise that I feel better, but it is just such a vicious cycle with me. I am trying once again to make better decisions. I have joined WW and am going with a friend from work. There are so many recipes and stuff on the net for free- I think I just need to put a little time into rethinking how I cook and what I eat. Good luck to everyone
