I think i have finally hit the bottom, i am very depressed. I sometimes think of ways of ending all to figure i am to scared to try it what will happen if it doesn't work. I am in so much pain, i have chronic pain from my neck and shoulder injury, i have nerve damage that makes it feel like i am on fire most of the time, my fingers are numb with pin and needle sensations i find myself sad and crying most of the time, i haven't worked a job since August of 2009. I can't do nursing anymore i feel like a failure, hopeless, helpless, and lost. I dont know what kind of work i can do now i was an LVN, but i cant lift more than 25 pounds constantly. My case was settled so i have no doctor no insurance and no job. i was on meds but i dont have those no more my Lyrica, Ambien, and Hydrocodone. I dont sleep but if lucky 3 to 5 hours a night, i have got into a mess. Sorry for bothering you with my problems. Thanks, Alice

It does sound like depression, maybe you can try joining support groups, both online and in person. Also try reading self-help books for people dealing with depression. Maybe you can consider attending church or any religious activities, if you don't already. One thing for sure is that, although the way you are feeling now may seem permanent and insurmountable, it is definitely not, things can and will change. I've seen so may people rise from low points in their lives, and I know you will too, but you have to not give up! Think about your future, your legacy, and your loved ones. Don't destroy it by allowing your thoughts and physical limitations to overpower you. Change the way you look at things, be more positive. You will be surprised when a few years from now, you look back and say "wow, I'm so happy I did not make that huge mistake, and glad I did not allow negativity to get in the way of my true destiny that I am fulfilling now."

Even though you studied nursing, nursing is not the beginning and the end. There are so many other opportunities out there, just as good, if not better than nursing....As for getting medical services, if you dont have insurance, you can apply for free coverage from the government or go to places that will provide you with a sliding scale for medical treatment once you provide documentation, at varius hospitals and clinics (for both mental health and other services). Don't be ashamed to ask for help from others, people are ready and willing to help you, you just have to take the first step and ask for assistance! Feel free to PM me as well

You're welcome, I'm glad you are feeling better and have people around you who can help. Good luck, I am confident that with time you will adjust to the changes that have presented themselves and overcome such obstacles.

I'm praying for you sister. I encourage you to go to the gov. website and fill out forms to receive free/reduced healthcare, foodstamps, support! We all need it, and nobody is to good for it. I needed help at one point in my life. I'm happy to hear that you will be seeing a therapist this will give you an outlet to talk to. I would also recommend writing down your feelings just like your doing now, and put them in a box. This really helped me a lot. And its ok to cry! Your a nurse, but first your human(and you too have a heart) Please don't do anything you might regret. My grandma always said "Where there's a shadow, best believe light is nearby"! Good luck to you sister, and feel free to email me whenever...this website is for us to help/encourage each other, so thats what I plan to do. I can be a hear to listen, or a shoulder to cry!

Sorry to hear of your ailments and predicament! I have struggles with depression (which is a real understatement), for reasons that differ from yours. Mine is worst during the semester, when i have way too many things on my plate, become overwhelmed, and feel like crawling in a whole. Depression is HORRIBLE and crippling. Please get to someone NOW! You can get meds in some way, there is assistance out there. If talking to a counselor helps DO IT please! If the meds worked get some access to them. Stay hopeful (which sounds stupid to anyone who is depressed) but TRY to, and stay as active as you can. Volunteer in the interim while you are getting things figured out. Helping others is great therapy, and who knows how the networking might turn up some roses?!?!

Good health to you! exit96

Sounds horrible. You should invest in more time to go have some fun...do things that you like just for you. I'm struggling with be unemployed and i won't lie i'm feeling pretty depress myself. But i can't imagine all the stuff your going through on top of being a nurse. We just have to find a balance in our life. Sorry i'm not help...i'm actually in the middle of wanting to cry! But lets all be hopeful and hope for the best to come....
