Anyone else a Biker Nurse? ;)

Nurses Stress 101

Published

Been riding for about 18 years. Currently, I own two: a sport bike and a cruiser (both suzukis).

Mostly I stay away from rallies, though I'll do the Bikers for Babies and some other rides, but I'm all about riding with my friends or getting on the road alone to decompress.

DOH!!! And I thought this thread might be about BIcycles...LOL!!! I'd love to have a sportbike (we live in the foothills of the Smokies and not all that far from the infamous Dragon).......but I'd probably kill myself. I DO have a great love for cycling (mountainbiking esp, and a good mtb with a set of slicks works dang well on the roads as well). So...... nevermind, and carry on. Motorcycles are pretty dang cool, just feel "safer" with human powered 2 wheeled vehicles...heh.

FWIW, my hospital has several dedicated parking spaces in the lot for cycles only, which is cool .... seems to be a 50/50 mix of cycles and scooters :)

Yes, I'm a biker nurse. I ride a 2006 Yamaha R6 sportbike, and I love it. I ride the Dragon (US 129) every year with friends. The looks on the docs faces are priceless when I walk into the unit with my helmet in my hand.

LOL! I can imagine!

Just bought my husband a new one. His older one is shot. He can't give it up though. It'll be his project bike while he rides his new 1100 everywhere.

Planning a trip through Canada in the near future. C'mon spring! Where are you?

Just bought my first bike, a Honda Cm 250. Needs some work, but I love riding him around when he feels like starting..haha

Congrats!! You must be someplace warm. I'm completely jealous! It's still below freezing where I live. Do you ride to work? Around town? Gone on any day trips yet (couple hours away to someplace fun)?

I know what you me about freezing I live in North centeral missouri and two days ago it was 70 degrees today it is 26 degrees and snowing it so sucks. Its like mother nature is toying with us. My husband and I both ride motorcycles. I have a 650 Yamaha Vstar custom. I can't wait till its warm enough to ride to work ever day again the ride in is relaxing and the ride home is even better. Two days ago I got to break the bike out and blow the dust off of it. My husband and I rode to a near by town and ate lunch it was so much fun.

I live in Colorado. Our weather is bi-polar. One day it's in the 70's and the next it's snowing. I just got it in the fall and it needs some work still, so I have been able to ride it anywhere but the neighborhood really (lame). I drive the highway to work so I will not be able to drive to work. It's a starter bike and I am new rider so once I get comfortable I will go big enough to ride the highway.

I am a motorcyclist. About 15 years total.

2001 BMW F650GS dual-sport, which I've had since '02

2004 Moto Guzzi California EV Touring that replaced my 2001 Kawasaki Concours about 6 months ago

I'll be glad when the weather stays 1/2way decent & I can commute on wheels again.

A moto guzzi? I wouldn't even have a place nearby that could fix those. I agree with FF-PHRN. Good taste.

I like to commute on my m/c too with gas prices being so high. Besides that, it melts all the stress away at the end of the day on the ride home.

I ride a scooter - a Honda Ruckus :smokin:

But I just got a job an hour away, so unless I want my commute to take 4 hrs, it looks like I'll be spending more time in my car...

Or, you can get a bigger scooter. Something in the 250-650 range will take you anywhere you want to go.

Congrats on the new job.
