Sounds like the average amount of coffee a nurse drinks on night shift.

Dealing with a mouse jacked up on caffeine is a bit easier that dealing with a patient jacked up on caffeine. I have to agree with arelle. I've worked geri-psych and it is a tough place to work. Add caffeine and it will be a dangerous place to work.

I'm not saying that it couldn't be of benefit, but the side effects will have to be monitored closely. Especially in those that have been in a caffeine-free environment in a while (institutions).

I thought he was going to hurt me. I had never seen him act like that. NO more caffeine for my residents if I have anything to say about it.

With that much caffeine you'd never sleep
I remember a time when I sat up in college with a few girlfriends to get our project done. We drank espresso and coffee all night and all of us fell asleep. We didn't last ALL night though, only a part of the evening. I was told after this happened to us, that caffeine in large amounts has the reversal effects on the nervous system.

Interesting though.

I was working on my master's thesis/project , working full time, school full time, and pretty much living on Krispy Kremes and coffee/no doze. I graduated, but also gave myself a nice little upper GI bleed, too. Coffee ground emesis tastes HORRIBLE. If I did that now, I'd probably blow out a ventricle....

Hopefully research can be done to discover how to apply this knowledge effectively with human subjects. This is the best, brightest news about Alzheimer's that I've seen in a while.

Doesn't matter in my case. I limit my coffee intake to one or two cups a day because if I don't my heart starts to jump in my chest. It feels like I am in afib. I don't like it and I have no intention of increasing my intake.

I honestly drank about a liter of Diet Pepsi every night when I worked nights.
