Budget Cuts? Are you kidding me?

I couldn't imagine how I would feel if my daughter's life hung in the balance on the thinnest thread, all in the name of budget cuts...

Ok, gonna be the baddie here.....if the disease is fatal, maybe it's time to get hospice in there and let the poor girl go.....when do we stop intervening to prolong a life that has little quality to it? Quantity of life does not equal quality. I know I wouldn't want to 'live' like this poor girl is living now.

And for those who argue that socialized medicine would encourage such scenarios, as we can see they are already happening. Insurance companies play with our lives all the time in the name of making a buck.

So ... you can't "blame" socialized medicine for the heartaches of this sort of situation. This type of situation is a product of the CURRENT situation -- strong evidence of how our current system is broken and in need of a major overhaul.

Discuss Re: Budget Cuts? Are you kidding me?
If hospice was warranted, I would agree. I can understand the family's need to "fight". I have seen it many times. But what about countless others who still can still have wonderful quality of life with this certain sector in healthcare? There are still those who can benefit. I just think that they should look elsewhere for budget cuts (if they can) before they start digging into sectors of healthcare that is sometimes life or death to these patients. Just my thoughts...

Not necessarily. Here in Texas it is not available to everybody. It is only available for children and the elderly. I will be losing my COBRA (from my divorce) in 2 months and will be left with nothing due to a pre-existing condition & unemployment. Even if I could qualify to purchase coverage, it will be nearly $1000 per month.
