Ewa Beach

U.S.A. Hawaii

Published

hi,

I am a traveler and I am trying to plan my next assingment. I want to go to Hawaii, but I don't necessarily like a huge city environment. I am trying to get to Maui, but so far the only position my company has found is Ewa Beach in Oahu. I am not familiar at all with the area and am wondering...is Ewa beach very urban, is it a good place to live, has anyone every worked at St. Francis hospital there? Any thoughts, facts would be helpful.

Thanks.

You didn't write too much.

Not sure who you're addressing, however I'm a man of few words!

She wants your old state of CA (her old state too), but I feel why settle for second best when you CAN have Paradise. Nothing is perfect, but Hawaii is closest.

I'm from the Republic of Texas, but have considered moving to CA.

I feel like $600K for an average new home in San Diego is a but of a ripoff. If I'm gonna live poor, might as well be in Hawaii. And my wife is Asian so that part you all have been mentioning is fine with us.

Median price on Oahu is $439,000 but you can get an unliveable one for $275,000 (actually in the paper this last week)! We are looking for a house now. Plan to keep it one year, sell it and get on a sailboat.

Thanks,

$439,000 medium price seems on par with San Diego.

Do you have any websites for home listings in the area?

A sailboat...sounds exciting, but wet....

Just go to http://www.google.com and put in "coldwell banker pacific." That's the realtor we're using. Put contract on a house today!

HI I am a new travel nurse and was also thinking about going to Ewa Beach. I noticed the first postings for this topic where awhile ago and didn't know if there had been any changes.

Is St. Francis still a great place to be?

Are there many young people in this area? I am 24 and dont want to take an assignment in the middle of nowhere.

Any feed back at all would be great!! thanks Lauren

Hey, the entire island chain is in the middle of nowhere! I don't work at St. Francis but pass it on my way to work. It's probably no better or worse than any other hospital here. Ewa Beach is about 17 miles from Honolulu. In fact you can see Honolulu in the distance. Nothing is happening in Ewa Beach fun-wise. Kapolei/Ko Olina is right down the road and Ko Olina has 4 nice lagoons.

IMO, from experience, St. Francis - Liliha ---no. St. Francis west was a nice facility.

I was a travel RN for 5 years and went to which was called at the time St. Francis West in Ewa Beach. My apt. was only 2 miles away from the hospital so I took my bike in every day or on rainy days I took the bus. I really enjoyed the ICU when I worked there, good environment and away from the city. It is a good area with the Makai grocery store and a Starbucks down the road. You can try to stay on the west side of the island so you can stay away from the traffic. The busline or renting a car will get you away to see the awesome sites there. I would recommend Ewa Beach, Hawaii
