San Diego UCSD new grad RN

I'm 22yo female moving from NH to san diego to start a position in a NICU at UCSD Medical Center in July. I was wondering if there are any other new grads moving out to san diego this summer that will need a roommate. I love running, hiking, going out dancing and having fun on days off. I'm quiet, neat, respectful and easy to get along with. Thanks.

Nicunewgrad-

Hi! I'm thinking about moving to the san diego area after I graduate in april (I currently live in PA). How did you get hired at UCSD from NH? did you apply online and fly out for an interview? I'm just wondering if i should move out there right away, or wait and see if i get offered interviews.

I appreciate your response!

Christina

Hi, I would be very interested in looking for a roomate. I'm from OK and am looking for the same life experiences. I've applied to Radys Childrens Hospital, but that's it. Where else would you suggest applying?! If you have any good input, I'd love to hear, as I grad in May!!!

How easy is it to apply and get in at UCSD? I am very interested in moving to San Diego when I graduate in August. I need advice on how to get started and need to know if it is easy for new grads to relocate. Any help? Thank you so much in advance!!

You got my dream job. What was the application process like? How hard was it to get a spot? If you don't mind me asking what type of GPA and/or preceptorship do you need to get a NICU new grad spot at UCSD?

To all new grad RNs who want to work at UCSD medical center:

I talked to the RN recruiter back in late March and this is what she said, "ICU and ER most competitive; oncology least competitive; Pay rate $31.50/hr for new grads; no preference for ASN or BSN programs. ahhhh! Typically 600 applications for 15 positions."

To all those who already applied, GOOD LUCK! but those who haven't, they already closed their application period for the July start date.

Do you know how they make their selections. I've got to imagine that GPA plays a huge part. Do you know what kind of gpa they are looking for and if any other type on experience helps such as a preceptorship in a NICU, etc? Since you were successful at getting a NICU spot you were an ideal candidate. Is there anything about your backround (gpa, experience, ties to UCSD) you mind sharing with us so that I know what I need to do to be competitive as a NICU new grad candidate...Thanks!
