Re: No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!
I did my usual 30 min today, plus my little free weights for my arms that I do 3 times per week. We ate out at a buffet today...I know, don't say it! I always start off with a nice green salad, which slows me down for hot foods and dessert. We don't go there often, but I like it because there's something for everybody, and you actually can eat well there. Of course, you can pig out too, and I do see quite a bit of obesity there. I have more problems at home, if my husband brings sweets into the house, and they're laying there on the counter. He loves his sweets, and all the salted, cured meats too. Keep up the good work, and welcome to any newcomers!

Well 1st of all remember muscle weighs more than fat...so you might want to consider measuring (hips waist thighs ect) instead of just relying on a scale. For example when I was 17 I was a dance major...I started at 115 pounds in Aug and by December I was still 115 however I had lost 4 clothing sizes and my grandma took quite a few pictures of my stomach during Christmas break cause I was so little...seriously. Anyways in the last 7 years I have gained a good 20 pounds and like 8 sizes ha. So I am not quite as tiny. I want to do it more for health then for weight loss though I am not against 5 pounds loss.
Anyways another thing you have to consider is how tall are you and what were you before. If you are 5 foot and 135 your pounds may come off eaiser however if you are 5 foot 6 it may not.
Next you need to eat more. Eat little healthy snacks with fiber or protein in them if possible and drink pleanty of fluids. If you don't eat properly you may become exhausted eaiser and your body holds on to the food longer which also can cause you not to loose weight because it's not sure when it will get that much good food again. So try and eat little snacks throughout the day instead of just 1 meal (not sure if that's what you meant by not eating very much but that's what I thought of when you said it) It helps your metabilizm work better which helps with loosing weight.
Also mix it up don't only do cardio...switch around. Not that you have been working out long but the more you confuse your body the more it works. One day run or ride a bike, next day cardio, next day lift little weights...something differnt (doesn't have to be that stuff exactly) That way your body won't get use to the workout and your workout will remain effective.
Hope that helps. | | No. 53 |

Re: No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!
Yeah I totally cspink, you may be gaining muscle I am almost positive you are. And you really need to make sure you are getting a minimum of 1200 calories. I know I have problem getting that high somedays, but I am eating a lot of food during my day, healthy food but food nonetheless. Please don't get discouraged, you can really do this, and to top it off I have more to lose than you do, I don't know how tall you are but the smaller you are the harder it is to lose weight. Me starting at 158 is easier than you starting at 135. Look at those people on biggest loser weighing around 300 pounds and can lose 8-13 pounds in a week!...Everyone is different. Just focus on eating more healthy foods, keep up your workouts and include weight training when you can and you will lose weight and inches.
I really don't want you to get too discouraged by my story or your current weight, because I know you can do this and I can tell how badly you really want this. If you have any questions let us know, we are here for you.
Post as often as you feel, I know it helps me remember that this is a real journey and gives me a reason to not give up.
GOODLUCK!!!

Re: No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!
I have been doing pretty well with eating healthier (a huge problem)...I have been adding more veggies... but exercise not so great...but I am going to the wave park today so I think that should kind of count for exercise ha. I only weigh myself about once a month because I know I don't do as much as I should. I am going to the doctors next week so I guess I will find out then if I am at least the same weight. I am more concerned with health then weight. Because I have high cholesterol already...actually since middle school or high school. But only high enough to need to eat healthy...not high enough to take meds. While I do need to add more exercise into my plan. I am proud that I have at least started eating healthy (I'm the type that always ate only what you shouldn't...nothing what I should) I am a terribly picky eater that only likes sweets and fried foods so adding veggies in is huge for me ha.

Re: No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!
Have any of you looked into the Master Cleanse Diet? I've only heard great things about it. It's a really expensive (about 60 bucks to buy all the ingredients at first) and NASTY recipe, but if you stick to it- it really works ! (Youtube personal vlogs about it.... people claim it works!)

Re: No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!
Well since I've no job prospects, I've changed my diet (farmer's market is my friend!!) and I play a lot of Wii fit and I've lost a lot of inches. I have not yet seen the numbers on the scale move like I really wanted but clothing is fitting better now.
Good luck to everyone putting themselves first to get healthy.

Re: No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!
Yeah this not having a job is really starting to get to me, by the time I get an interview I won't even remember clinical or nursing school anymore.
But anyway.....Weight loss journey is going alright....my weigh in is Friday, but I am thinking of moving it to Sunday in order to keep my weekends under more control. Although I couldn't resist so tonight I weighed myself also, even though early and late in the day, which I usually hate doing and it said a lower number....WOOT WOOT!!......I don't know its not official, but I will let you know how things work out this week....I have been working out so hard..
How is everyone else doing this week????

Re: No JOB- Spare time=LOSE WEIGHT!
Oh, darn..I didn't get my exercise in yesterday, runing around getting stuff done all day. It finally wore me out! You guys, based on those who have stated their ages, I'm old enough to be most everyones mother and/or grandmother! I have really high arches, and have a lot of trouble with my feet, after all these years of nursing. I just have my exercise bike at home, and mix it up somedays with walking. I would like some floor exercises maybe, to get me off my feet sometimes. Anyone know any good ones suitable for an elder with a lot of life left? Sometimes I just make some up, and keep moving for thirty minutes. Thanks everyone. There's lots of good info in these posts that I agree with, but the sound of master cleanse might be a bit radical for me to say the least. My idea of master cleanse is my prep every three years for my colonoscopy!
