Job Hunt Motivation Thread

A thing a few of us could do with a concentrated job hunt support group. I got my results last week and am still waiting for my hard card and number. I've begun sending my resumes out into the world and have got one interview even if was a quick no.

My plan is this search all the website site for suitable jobs apply to those.
Follow leads (if any) from career center.
Contact administrators at places I had clinicals at.
Set up fax machine and start faxing resumes/cover letter to LTC's in the area
Once license is in hand start walk ins.

I think the last part might be the hardest which I don't know why since I'm not shy

I have to repeat to myself I am desireable I have mad skills I am employeable

So I've got my daily list of leads from Career Services. Most of them are "accepting applications". What does that mean really and how different is it to not hiring .

Sigh

True, I wish I could answer that one!....I call places every day I get a chance and have applied to upwards of 500 jobs, much like every new grad right now. I like the motivation of this thread. I really do hope it turns around soon, or that we all get really lucky, whichever will work for me. HAHA...staying positive and focused is key. I got a crappy RN job well pretty much got/ orientation/interview tomorrow at a local gym, doing assessment type stuff on the members that use the gym. It calls for an RN, so they can advertise that they have RN's on staff, but only pay 10$ an hour. SO pretty much it is my crappy until something better, put money back in my broke pocket kind of job. ONLY GOOD THING IS THE FREE MEMBERSHIP and 4 hour shifts.

GOODLUCK ALL!

I had to start this thread. I just couldn't read anymore about how crappy it is. It makes me want to throw up. I'm looking for an LTC as I'm an LVN so I'm not trying for a needle in a haystack job.

Goodluck, I know you will find what you are looking for, I know we all will eventually!....Staying positive is key for us all right now, and it sets us asside from a lot of nursing students right now, whether employers know this or we just know how great our own will power is.

GOODLUCK!

Ok today I managed to get to 6 places. Of course 2 of them refused to take an application but theres not point getting mad over that.

I am filling out the application and handing it back with my resume and a sheet that has a photocopy of my cpr, my license and my fire card. I am trying to make it easier to hire me.

Most of the places I have applied to are only accepting applications and not hiring. I am aiming for LTC even though most of my LVN school rotations were at the acute hospital.

I have a few leads regarding Home Health agencies that hire new grads but I feel a little uneasy about that.

There are 1,300 nursing homes in CA. A good chunk of them have to be in LA

Well I almost got an interview on the spot but the DON wasn't available and now I have to call back after 1pm. Gosh I hope I don't get a thanks but no thanks. The nursing office seemed interested in me even though I'm a new grad.

12:58pm.

Sigh

Ok. Got the interview tomorrow.

They know I am a new grad so now I just need to nail the interview.

I don't actually know if they have positions available but why would they interview me if they didn't right?
