If a new RN had an MSN in Nursing Administration...

...what kind of job outlook could they have?

I'm talking of an RN with no nursing experience.

I'm just curious if anyone knows, or if it makes any difference at all.

The reason I am asking is that Yahool recently ran an article talking of how Nursing Administration majors could make 6-figures out of college....I am wondering if this is a gross exaggeration.

Right out of finishing their MSN after being an RN for several years maybe? Doubt new grad MSN's command six figure salaries, but not saying its impossible.

Anybody?

I've never heard of a new grad being hired directly into an administrative position, and hope I never do.

I am a firm believer that in any field, it is necessary to have experience as a "worker bee" in order to effectively manage.

I do not believe that it is necessary for a nurse manager or nursing administrator to be the best clinical nurse on the unit, but I do believe that some clinical experience is necessary. Otherwise how can one evaluate employee performance, implement evidence-based policy and procedure, assess staffing and education needs, respond to emergencies, etc.?
