So I took the hesi exit today for the second time. I made a 800 on the first attempt and a 822 with the second attempt. Our third and last attempt b4 pinning is the 16th. Is there any tips on version 3 we took version 2 today. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry to hear about that, I haven't been able to pass it myself. I heading towards my 3rd attempt on July 20th and I scored lower then that on the first attempted and the second attempt I scored the SAME!!!! The college has provided us (those students that haven't been successful) a 6 wks course to help us pass this next time. They are refreshing our memory. I just hope it really helps, it's only one day a week, but it's all day 9-5pm, long day. The other things that I am doing is, lots of questions from different resources that I can get my hands on. Example: Nclex 3500 and 4000 (they have almost the same questions, but with a few new ones in each sections), I also bought the "Hurst" review which is really good, but I haven't finished that yet and a friend let me get into his Kaplan review that he purchased (but I haven't gotten that far yet, I haven't even been on it yet). The other most important thing Im doing is remembering God in my life. Through all this mess of nursing school I have forgotten my connection with God and without him we are nothing. The more disciplined I get with God the more peace I tend to get in mind and soul, which is comforting. I just hope and pray that I may pass it this last time . So good luck to you too!

Do not get discouraged because your grade is the same or went lower, because with Hesi that means very little. We had people that improved continously and then went way down. Then we had people like me that went like a roller coaster up and down, then again we had people that never scored in the 800 and suddenly surpassed 900. I think just focus on the material and try not to worry about the score so much. I know that easier said then done, but in the end you know that you know the material already and you will pass if you can find that ballance of study and playtime and a good dose of confidense that goes with all of that.

WOW! I'm glad that HESI's were not in existence when I took my Boards!!! Here's something the nursing schools should be asking.......HESI always talks about its "pass rate" for the NCLEX. Well, has anyone asked them what their rate of "failure" is??

Hmmmm......I wonder.....

Don't be discouraged. Keep on and continue to hit the books. It will all be over soon enough!!! Best of luck to all of you.......

Unfortunately, nobody seems to hear us. I understand that they want to ensure that their schools have a high pass rate so they keep their accreditation. However, I do not agree with the amount of stress that students go through taking this insane exam. I feel there should be at least another option available, especially when you look around and you notice students that usually make A's sit with you to retake the hesi for the fourth or fifth time. We have right now potential nurses sitting in classrooms trying to pass the hesi, while many of them doing Kaplan as a secondary source and already received from Kaplan the " good to go for Nclex". This seems to be just ....wrong. No wonder we have a nursing shortage if we have so many students still seated for hesi, some of them may never even see the Nclex and their could have been the chance that they would have passed.

Hesi Help....I have failed the hesi three times...but each time my score has increased but not to the 900 that we need in order to take nclex...I am mentally exhausted, now we have to take a remediation course and they will be using exit exam as our final grade.....I just dont know what to do..I cannot focus anymore on my books..I guess I am just a lil discouraged...But with God all things are possible...Does anyone have topics or subtopics for version four or version five? .....

go to your faculty people and ask them if you can take a battery of HESI tests under real and live testing conditions.

Ask to take the following HESI tests within a couple day period:

Critical Thinking
Medical-Surgical 1 and 2
Pharmacology
Critical Care
Foundations/fundamentals
Maternity/Pediatrics Combination exam
Mental Health Exam

Most of the tests cost $21 to $28 each and typically only take an hour and a half to do.

You can have the faculty people call your evolve sales rep and tell them that you want to take these tests as practice. If you do a battery of HESI practice tests it will hopefully be enough to pull you through.

well, Im back. No luck on my 3rd HESI ! Now I have to audit my lecture class which of the 3rd semester for the new upper class, and we have to have a passing score to qualify for our fourth HESI! Our nursing director gave those who didn't pass this test again and didn't have their LVN, to finish of a summer class that had started back in June, to go and try for our LVN license. I thought it was a pretty good oppurtunity considering it's only 2 weeks that we have to finish. Although it was pretty embarrassing to eat lunch today and have one of our fellow class mates who has her RN now, eating at the next table while we sit at an oppisit table still in student uniforms .

I don't know what my future has in store for me , but what I do know is that I am so exhausted of school and so tired of being embarrassed by facing former students and teachers who talk behind your back. It takes a lot of courage to keep on going, but it's not easy. what to do?

Dear busy5kids,

I know this is probably the hardest test you will ever encounter...but remember to be humble. I know it must have been difficult to see your classmate with that badge you want so much, but if you were truly friends that won't matter. Dont focuse on the negative and look forwards of what you have given the opportunity to do. I know it must be hard but you will perservere! Take advantage of your choices and kick out bad feelings, otherwise you will never move on. Positive thoughts, althought hard at this point, attrack positive things.

Keep working hard, your time will come.

This thread is scary. A whooping 950 YIKES! Somebody also wrote they only needed 825. Our school needed 870 and I thought that was high already. 50% of our class scored between 870 and 949. Right off the bat, half of my class failed already =O
