Hi Everyone,

I was just accepted about two weeks ago and I can't wait to get started this summer! I wish I had seen this website before the interview, because I would have been much more relaxed.

Prachi- One question that I asked in my interview (that they seemed to like) was... What types of opportunities are available for new students to get involved in the neighbooring community?

For those of you who are also starting this summer (or are already at rush), do you know if Rush provides us with a final list of our classmates when all the decisons are made? I will be moving to Chicago from another state and would love to find a roommate who is in the program, but I don't know where to start looking.... any tips would be helpful.

Congratulations!!!!

when you asked them that question, did they ask you if you wanted to get involved in other hospitals around the campus? or what was their response to your question? Also what types of questions did they ask you in your interview? I am still collecting all the information I can, so I dont freak out at the last minute. Also do they ask you questions like,what do you know about Rush???

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Prachi,

I mostly asked because they knew I would be new to Chicago and I wanted them to know that I wanted to be fully invested in my new neighboorhood... hospitals, volunteer work, neighboorhood events, ect. Try not to worry too much about your interview. It was not as formal/intimidating as I expected (I am a girl, but I still wore a full suit). I never felt like they put me on the spot about my knowledge of Rush. The questions are really straight forward, much like what others have already posted. The interview was shorter than what I thought it would be also... I expected an hour and it was less. Just try and be yourself!

I was just wandering about Rush's GEM program because I was in the procss of applying for the winter 09 class back in september of 08, but kind of got side tracked with personal issues that discouraged me from applying. I already have my bachelor's in public health, but I feel like I'm kind of settling instead of doing what I really want to do which is go to grad school and major in nursing. I just wanted to know how the actual process is and what kind of GRE scores are they looking for?

Hi,

I'm new to this forum so I thought I'd post something. I was accepted into the Summer Session beginning this June and I was wondering if anyone has any information they can provide me with. When I interviewed, I was told the program is really strenuous and lots of work. In addition, I heard we're in class almost every day of the week and we begin clinicals right away. Could anyone provide me with anymore information about the class load and where we do clinicals? Also do we have any breaks between quarters?

Thank you so much and I appreciate all the help! Does anyone know how big the class size is for this summer? Can't wait to meet everyone in June!

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to post something about GEM program at Rush vs. DePauls. I've heard many great things from Rush and Rush has one of the top programs in nursing. Anyone who decides to further their career at Rush, is in great hands. Also the last I heard, the GEM program is very competitive. When I interviewed in April, the course director told me straight up that there were only 6 spots left for the summer session beginning in June and they still had 30 more applicants to interview. Anyways thats all for now...

Question to all that have been accepted/interviewed...

How important is experience? I have my interview coming up and I dont really have much health care experience (besides a few volunteering jobs) since I am going straight from graduate school? Do they place heavy emphasis on that? I am kind of worried about that...

When I interviewed back in April, they specifically asked me on my health care experience and to elaborate on a few of my volunteering/health care experiences. I am not sure how much emphasis they place on health care experiences when it comes to accepting applicants. Are you interviewing for winter quarter? Good luck. I start in a few days...

I thought I'd reply to your post because I'm also going to be starting in a few days at Rush for the summer session. I have not received any class list from Rush and I'm pretty sure they don't supply that for us. But I did try to go on Facebook to see if there was group started for our class and there wasn't. I'll do another search but maybe i'll start a group on facebook for our GEM class. So look out for that if you're on Facebook but hopefully you already found a roommate.

I saw your post and I thought I'd ask you if that is the class schedule for the summer session beginning in June. We haven't received too much information about it but I did read that we do have class Mon-Fri and I saw your post mention that we didn't have any class Thursday & Friday. But like you said maybe they did change the class schedule around so 1st and 2nd quarters are more balanced. Also where do we do clinicals and do they start right away?
