What is boarding?

hello, HR from VA called me today telling me that I am being boarded. What does that mean? Do I have to do something (i.e., paperwork) during the boarding process. he told me boarding takes up to 2 weeks. anyone?

Boarding is the process that you go through to determine your pay scale. They will send you paperwork to fill out and after that a group of nurses will review it "the board" and determine what you should be paid based on your qualifications and your answers, experience ect. It means they are hiring you just have to get through the federal hoops! Congrats hope it goes your way :) :yeah:

Hi,

Have worked at VA for 7 years.

Boarding is also where they check to see if information on your application is correct,do a background check, make sure liscence etc.,are up to date, check references and sometimes will call for a personal reference.

I have seen this process take as long as 2 months, depending on how many apps they have to do.

The one thing you will learn about working for the government that nothing moves quickly.:typing

Thanks for the replies.

Thanks. I was wondering why they haven't given me a salary quote yet.
