Does anyone work at the Long Beach VA Hospital in southern California?

Do you like it?

How is it different from a non-VA hospital?

What is unique to VA that you do not like?

I have already researched the benefits and compensation. I assume the patient population is predominantly male, maybe older, and maybe with more comorbidities.

I have not seen a thread like this that is recent. How are things in 2015? Better? Worse?

Good luck hearing back from them. I work for the VA have applied for the same position as its come up over and over and over...and I still haven't heard a peep.

Do you work in Southern CA? Do you find the VA to be different from non-VA nursing?

Anyone with Southern California VA experience? I would really like to hear your perspective.

Each V.A. is unique. I've work at 6 different facilities, each very different. Be forewarned, the Long Beach V.A. HR'department has a bad reputation for processing new candidate's paperwork.

Seasons greetings everyone. I have an interview with the VA in a few days. Does anyone have any advice on how to prepare? Thank you for any input.

Sample PBI Questions - Performance Based Interviewing (PBI)

Here you go; these are the interview question they will ask you. Mostly it performance base interview type questions. What they do want to hear:

Flexible, work well with others

See the VA an excellent opportunity to grow your career

Want to serve Veterans.

Be forewarned, the interview is only one part of the selections. They also judge you on your work history (do you move around, or stay with a job), and past references.

If you're selected, you then will submit a background check, Vetpro. This is an extensive investigation of your application. You better be sure that your application is exactly what it says it is. During my Vetpro process, I had to dig up old EMT certifications and LVN transcripts from 35 years ago (can't begin to tell you how difficult that was).

Thanks for your response. I will keep all this in mind and hope for success. I figured there would be an extensive background check anyhow. My hope is that the process is a bit quicker than I've heard. Thanks again and pray my success.
